I don't think that they will be able to do it. Trump winning basically screwed up everything for them and what we are getting now is just the scraps they could get together.
On another note did it always feel hallow to anyone else when Southpark was raging against nostalgia but then seemed to indulge in it afterwards. It felt massively hypocritical and honestly lacking in something that Southpark usually nails and it kinda dragged down this season in my opinion.
I wonder how different the season would be if Garrison lost.
Trey Parker and Matt Stone were probably infected with Member Berry Zombie Juice shortly after the Election. And for good reason, considering what happened.
From where I was, even not in America the election results were pretty saddening. I remember my Twitter feed... It was like hundreds of people had just died. I hope that good people and comedians including Matt-Park-Trey-Stone can at least make the most out of it.
H.B. Ward"From where I was, even not in America the election results were pretty saddening. I remember my Twitter feed... It was like hundreds of people had just died."
And yet, more than 60 million people had their candidate win. That's the danger of social media bubbles.
I straddle both sides of the aisle, so I got to watch two very different Twitter feeds unfold this election.
You can shame and discourage people into not talking about their views in public. You can call them racist for wanting their kids to have jobs when they grow up and sexist for preferring one liar over another. But people don't stop existing when you block them on facebook or mute them on Twitter. They don't stop voting either.
Trump tapped into that other half of America. The half who don't drink lattes, read Huff Po/Vice or listen to a media who does nothing but heap praise on one candidate while calling any outlet that doesn't 'fake news'.
The left has dominated the popular cultural discourse for over 25 years now, but that doesn't mean everyone who was forced to go along with it are true believers; there was clearly plenty of people who were #Never Trump'ers in public but pulled the lever for him in the privacy of the voting booth.
Ultimately, it was probably an impotent gesture, though. I don't think Trump has the working class's best interests at heart. He will not make PC gargle balls like the scene in South Park. If anything, he empowers left-biased media by giving them plenty of material for click bait that keep them in business. The mainstream right is still ineffectual and lacks any savvy to make gains in pop culture, let alone bring balance. Nor has the left learned any lessons.
At best, Trump is maybe an internal pressure release that finally popped and will keep things from exploding for a little while longer, even the US is on the same trajectory. International relations may suffer for it, though.
Getting back on topic, I guess this is a case where the two didn't use the Eiichiro Oda Secret Technique and plan for all possibilities. Guess like the rest of media, they really underestimate Donald Trump chances of winning and thought "Yeah, I don't think we need to plan for the alternate path since Hilary clearly going to win".
Also, who want to bet by the end of the season the moral on nostalgia will be neutral stating that it is only good in small amounts? If that's the case, I should of just watched that Mega Man episode of Angry Video Game Nerd to get that message.

it pretty much already is. randy said memberberries don't show up till all you do is rest on your laurals and think about old times. it's when you give up and make shit like the force awakens and cut/insert new names and planets that memberberries show up.
There are other things that bother me. Cartman is way too worried of his browser history and escaping to Mars to avoid that reveal is too unlike him. Really? We're talking about the same Cartman who gloated about having people deported or killed, now worried about some lame comments he left about the new Ghostbusters movie? I get that everything in South Park is exaggerated but this doesn't really make sense.
Also, why don't Kyle and Ike ever tell their mom that the troll is actually Gerald? What do they have to lose at this point? And what kind of moral do we have to get from this season? That everyone is a troll and that we should let trolls be because they're people too?
Some random observations: - It's strange that nobody complained that of all the trolls the only one who was killed was the African-American one. (I'm joking, but still...)
- The griefer spoke for the first time in 10 years!
- Speaking of references to South Park's past: the Danish olympic athlete killed herself not unlike Conan O'Brien's suicide in the SP film, only this time played much more seriously.
"Effective Altruism" is just another bunch of horsesh*t.Maybe the boys don't mention it's Gerald because they're afraid if they do, Mom & Dad really will get divorced.
Also, she wouldn't believe them.
Cartman cares because he's dating Heidi and he's convinced she'll dump him if she finds out what he said about Ghost Busters.
I Bring Doom, and a bit of gloom, but mostly gloom.Tonight's the season finale, and it's going to get intense.
"We be we baby!"Or end up as major let down with many plot holes and abandon a lot of storylines. What can I say: I'm optimistically pessimistic.
edit: it's on!
dont know why this deleted my original post.

Sheila's a complete joke! She thinks her motherly rage will solve anything? When has it ever?
Well, that's unfortunate. Gerald got away with everything, and now Kyle and Ike have to live with the fact that their dad is a Karma Houdini douchebag.

When you wish upon a side of beef, soon will come an end to all your griefAw, I don't care if it didn't make any sense, I wanted Member Berries to stay gone. They were never funny.

Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. So is that going to come into play next season or is kyle's rant, and the title of this episode mean it's gonna be dropped.
Well, I like how things turned out sort of:
-Nobody got fucked to death
-Lennart died
-Kyle and Ike aren't in trouble
-Gerald becomes Cartman 2.0
-Cartman still gets to keep Heidi(unfortunately)
-Member berries were useless
-And Kenny didn't die.
All-in-all, good season, bad president.
"We be we baby!"Yeah, Gerald got so lucky he shut down the entire Internet before his wife found out all the crap he's done. But he did stop World War III, so as long as he stops Trolling, I'm willing to at least give Gerald a pass.
Also, I'm not liking the new, or should I say old, Cartman. I hope Heidi doesn't end up in an abusive relationship because of what Cartman thinks.
That last bit though? The very ending? That, I think, was the best way to end this Season.
WW3 nearly started because he was an unrepentent troll in the first place. There is no pass for this.
Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession. Finally saw the season finale:
- Kyle using a mass trolling to stop Troll Trace by literally breaking the internet. That's pretty awesome and is a good call back to what the other trolls did
- Totally called it on Cartman most likely going back to his old ways by the end of the season. Which is still a shame seeing how Heidi is completely oblivious to the whole "women want to milk men for their semen and jokes" belief which most likely isn't true.
- So Garri Trump was voted in due to a troll algorithm where the most outrage will generate the most vote? Finally, somebody who understand how Trump got elected without that bullshit most of America are racist/sexists bullshit that is flying around.
- Gerald pretty much got away with everything by the end of the season. I've been on a pro troll stance for most of the season, but goddamn why didn't he get any retribution. I would of settle on him coming to realize how much of a sociopathic ass he become with that final speech with Bedrager; instead he was faking it and still believed that what he is doing is okay.
- And there was no payoff to the whole Memberberries subplot. Well that's a load of shit. All that build up setting these Nazi Nostalgiatards as the bigger bad, and nothing of importance came from them in the end
Overall it was a good episode, but a pretty underwhelming season finale as it leaves a lot of unanswered questions and gave plenty of unsatisfying conclusions to story arcs made.
Given that the episodes closes out with a shot of the presidential office covered with member berries and then cuts to the Marsh house with walls painted the color of the member berries I think they may be setting up for next season's plot. Though member berries strike me as far more like a running gag from old style south park (like Mr. Hanky) and that's where I'd rather they stay then keep trying to hang plots from them.
Gerald still had to suffer a lot (he apparently spent an hour or more sobbing naked in a room with the other trolls), we can fanon that he learned some things.
I'll admit, all season I kept expecting the mega troll to be revealed as the Dutch athlete who faked her suicide all to troll Gerald back (and then became the mask).
And that's the thing about his suffering: in spite being completely humiliated, fearing for his life as he could have died and learning how huge of a sociopath the Troll Trace guy is in his trolling, he learned nothing from this experience.
And you are right that the Memberberries seems to be a set up for a future plot point in the next season, it's just that throughout this season they are presented as the main threat what with their brainwashing and manipulating the events of this season. I kind of expect that Bedrager has some involvement with the Memberberries considering his original goals of making a perfect world with Danish as the rulers (aka, Aryans). Instead, nope lol he's a troll having nothing to do with the Memberberries plot point the writers hyped up whatsoever. It really in the end makes the connecting plots in this season feel disjointed, especially compare to last season which manage to mesh PC Principal, advertisements and Whole Foods pretty well.
Yeah, I had the same thoughts. Unless the season finale does a really, really good job of tying everything together, we're going to be left with at least a few cases of What Happened to the Mouse?.
I love to learn, I love to yearn, and most of all... I love to make money.
