Spanish seems ok... but then I realise that most Spanish-speaking countries are hot enough to melt me sad

^Go live in the South of Argentina, then. It's really near of the Antartida.

You can from a technical standpoint. To be honest, I like Spanish Spanish (that is, Spanish from Spain) much better than Mexican Spanish, and preferable to Neutral Spanish depending on the speaker. The reason I like Latin American dubs more is because I like their voice talent better, because I believe the neutral accent used in them fits dubs better and because I dislike some of the changes made in Spanish dubs ('Onda Vital'? What the hell is that?).

That being said, I agree, discussing "My Accent is better than your Accent" is stupid, and whoever starts that kind of discussion again will get slapped with a trout.

As to why I'm posting in English.. force of habit.

I think that it sounds a lot like Japanese. Both languages are gorgeous. Forget French - Spanish sounds much more romantic and charming than that guttural swag.

^ It sounds like Japanese because both languages have a common feature. Rarely does a syllable have more than one possible pronunciation.

Actually it is because both are isochronic languages, as in the syllables do not vary.

I don't think it sounds like japanese. Japanese people put more passion when they talk.

That's true for most countries, though, there's a ton of different accents in Argentina, and I'm sure Mexico has a few as well.

Yep.

Reminds me of this particular Venezuelan accent:

Spanish seems intimidating to me for one reason and one reason only.

What simbols? ñ and á,é,í,ó,ú? The only real symbol is "´" since "ñ" is a different letter and that symbol isn't used anywhere else.
