Batman doesn't like vigilantes. Dude is kind of a hypocrite like that.

Batman doesn't like vigilantes who don't know what the hell they're getting into. He knows, so that gives him a free pass.

Mind you, that's how he sees it. Makes it convenient for him.

I see it as less hypocrisy and more self-loathing. He doesn't want anyone else to walk the path he couldn't bring himself to not walk down, because he knows about its dangers and risks more than anyone who hadn't yet walked it.

He does rather reasonably believe that most vigilantes are in no way as capable or prepared as he is. Those who manage to measure up get accepting surprisingly quickly, considering it's Batman.

Batman is also perfectly okay with Vigilantes he trained himself, because he knows they're actually trained to do what they do.

Batman likes to act like he's a tough, no nonsense badass... but he's a total softie. In the hands of the right writer, anyway. It's what gives him a humanizing touch, and what makes it clear that, while he's one step away from being as bad as the people he hunts, he's still firmly on the good side and doing everything in his power to stay that way.

Incidentally, Wide Load Mode... congratualtions, you've made the layout not suck on toast.
