There's some speculation on that page that the season's being pushed back because of the Korean ferry sinking, since the premise of season 5 is, "Wawanakwa sank, we've got to do this on another island."

It's probably for the best that they edit that stuff out, then. Considering Total Drama airs all over the world, it would be disrespectful to leave the mention of the island sinking in.

I'd be inclined toward a more mundane explanation like "Cartoon Network hought they could get better ratings by shuffling season schedules". It's hard to imagine Wawanakwa coming up as much as, say, the toxic waste in Revenge, and it's a bit of a tenuous link anyway.

I just heard about this Ridonculous Race spinoff they're doing, sounds interesting. I'm hoping that'll help give the staff new ideas, since there's only so much you can do on an island (or a movie lot)

I've lost track of some things in the series over the years, but are Wawanakwa and Pakhitew supposed to be on one of the Great Lakes?

So, Pahkitew Island. I think it's scheduled for July 7th. also, a bit of spoilers below.

According to mostly-reliable TD Wikia sources, the characters are more developed. Like, Rodney's a hopeless romantic who falls in love with a different girl every episode. [tup] And Sky wants to be in the Olympics, believes in teamwork, and has a very black and white view of justice. And you all thought she'd be another Zoey, ha ha.

And there's something majorly spoilerriffic about Scarlett, Amy, and Samey that they didn't even say, just that it was super spoilery. My guess is that Amy and Samey rope Scarlett into an alliance, but Scarlett's too savvy for that, so she pulls a Cameron and gets the twins out in a super heroic fashion.

and and AND Amy is not the antagonist, and the real one is apparently "quite shocking". I could see it being Topher or Shawn, but given that the twins and Scarlett have spoilery info... oh, please, anyone but Scarlett.

aND ANOTHER THING. The supposed final three (Waffle, you know the three), aren't the final three. Julie Giles says that the leak for it was 'not kosher', meaning there were errors in it.

[up][up] I don't know about Pahkitew, but Wawanakawa's lake is probably fictional. Muskoka does border Georgian Bay (part of Lake Huron) and also has three major internal lakes, but geography is a area where continuity means nothing on TD.

[up]Ah.

See, I was figuring that if Wawanakwa at least was in one of the Great Lakes, I'd had this plotbunny pop up where that island's destruction was the result of a Manitou seeing the damage Chris' carelessness had wrought.

[up] I don't see why that wouldn't work anyway, real lake or not. As long as it's more or less in the right geographic region, you don't have to get too exacting.

I don't really know much about the island other than what's been given to us by the show, and I honestly don't feel the need to get worked up over it. It's not really even close to being an example of Where the Hell Is Springfield?.

I believe the water tower on the film lot is based on the one outside the actual studios, though.

So Pahkitew Island's already airing in Italy, is going to air in the US on July 7th with one new episode a day (weekends too, and two episodes on the first day. Basic math also says that the final episode is apparently an hour long?), and all audition tapes sans Jasmine, Sky, Shawn, and Scarlette's have been released.

Max is amazing. Like, seriously. He sounds so perfect for a wannabe villain who's got French horn lessons and babysitting.

Rodney's shtick with falling in love at the drop of a hat seems fun in moderation. But at least he's not just a farmboy that's nice instead of Scott-evil! (also, I can't tell whether he's voice by Scott Mc Cord or Brian Fourd)

Amy and Samey exceed my expectations from what I've seen in their auditions. I mean, Amy seems like your typical Heather, but Samey's got so much potential! She's definitely one of my favorites (are they voiced by Dakota's VA?).

Sugar's a teenage Honey Boo Boo parody, and to that, I approve.

Dave's shaping up to be a favorite, despite being a Noah/Cody/Mike hybrid (is he voiced by Cameron's VA?).

Leonard's got a lisp, which is unusual but welcomed!

Beardo talks in his audition, which is super strange (is he voiced by Cle Bennet?)

Topher is amazing, oh sweet god. He's exactly how I pictured him to be. And his cat's named Chef! Cool! (I will bet all the money in the world that he's voiced by Tyler's VA)

Ella's really sweet, and her neighbor's named after Tom Mc Gillis! But she sounds a lot like Courtney.

...Why does everyone sound like other characters?

Checked out the auditions. Max is basically the kind of character I was hoping he would be from the concept art.

I agree that Amy feels like she's solely present to drive home Samey's inferiority complex. Based on that, I predict she'll make it farther. Because I'm always wrong about this stuff.

In hindsight, I wonder if this indicates none of those characters will make the finale? In season one, auditions appeared to be intended to follow a character's elimination; and Revenge has the appearance of having intended to continue that tradition, with its reused dialogue for the finalists' videos and the presence of exactly one non-audition post-episode scene that appeared to follow one player's second elimination. Hopefully they planned around having to show all the audition videos in advance this time.

I get the feeling the new Cartoon Network management doesn't care for this show, as apparently they're gonna burn through the whole thing in about two weeks.

[up][up][up][up][up] You're right about the audition tapes. I mean, you'd expect them to catch on by now that it pretty much spoils the final two.

[up] Yeah, I spoiled myself dry last week, eh heh heh. But the good news is, now I'm certain that Ella's a favorite of mine, and so is Jasmine and Dave ...uh, him for the most part.

And the Ferocious Tigers—sorry, the Confused Bears are down two. I actually liked Beardo; his Suddenly Voiced line as he's cannon'd was amazing.

I'm rooting for... well, everyone. They're all amazing in their own ways. Except for Amy and Sugar, but Amy makes up for it by having her jerkass actions played for laughs. Sugar's fine, but I just don't like her.

Sky looks, acts, and sounds like a more confident version of Zoey, and I approve of that 142%.

Sky's kinda meh to me. She hasn't really proven to be a character of interest yet. Same with Rodney and Samey.

Max is funny, Scarlet and Shawn seem pretty cool, and Jasmine's probably my favorite right now. Ella's not too bad, Sugar's annoying, Leonhard and Dave are okay, Beardo's interesting but canon fodder, Amy's a bitch, and Topher's pretty funny. So far it's a pretty decent cast.

There's too many that I want to win, so I'll just say I want Amy and Sugar gone, and I wouldn't miss Rodney if he left. Samey, Sky, and Dave could be more interesting with a little development, but if they don't develop, I won't miss them too much.
