You are forgetting the "history" arc between the two. I could see the show getting through the "history" part and leaving us with a Sequel Hook.
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!About Rikuou's friends not realizing his true identity, it's a particularly large Wall Banger in Yura and Kana's cases. They've both seen him in the blue ceremonial robe in night form, and then he wears the exact same robe, which is too large for him, during the day when they visit.
I've got a question about the last chapter. Will it turn out to be a Luke, I Am Your Father-kind of situation for Rikuo where he'll find out that Hagoro Gitsune is his sister? Non-biological, maybe adopted? I think a 30-years old woman can't have a daugher that is aroudn sixteen or older already, either the theory in general is wrong or the mother is older or just ignore me?
Just watched the latest episode....is the next episode supposed to be the last?
If only there is a one episode crossover that further fuels my Wild Mass Guessing....

"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."Start of the 2nd Season!
This is the anime I've most looked forward to this season.
So far.................does the first episode of S2 look more like it would fit as a pilot episode for the entire anime rather than something they'd show in a 2nd season episode instead?
And Rikuo isn't normal. Most kids would be ecstatic over being able to control so many yokai. Show a few off to school to show those unbelieving bastards that yokai's exist!
That, and...I wonder if Yuki Onna is the same one as that mature looking version shown with the grandfather.

"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."@the start of a whole show vs start of second season thing: I felt the same way. But there is a reason for what they are doing. This provides a reasonable intro to the series for first time watchers and provides some new information to people who saw the first season that will be important for the arc they will be covering.
What I don't know is how they expect to be able to cover that entire arc in one season... Also should re-read that part of the series to see if they are skipping anything.

Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!I wish I had such a cool grandfather as Rikuo. All mines ever taught me was how to catch poisonous insects without getting bitten...while fun, is not a skill you can make use of after moving to where I live now...
By the way, does the ending theme song and sequence look more like an opening instead?

"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."Who knows, it might be the opening. As you said, the entire episode was an introduction and it is not uncommon for the oppening to come after an intro bit. Have to wait for the next episode to be sure one way or another.
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!You are a delightfully strange person sometimes, Signed.
But on topic, it seems to me like this arc's a little too lengthy for even a two cour season, even assuming they don't use any filler, but it's too long by much. A little trimming here and there, and it'll work.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."?..........well excuuuuuse me for wanting to have have a cool grandfather like Rikuo's.
I've seen anime shorten down incredibly long story arcs just to fit into a season before...
edit: Cool, episode 2 have Yura finding out Rikuo's secret!! I'm pleased that they finally got someone to figure out his secret so early.

"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."The Yuki Onna with Rikuo's grandfather isn't the same as the one with Rikuo. It wasn't mentioned in the anime (maybe they haven't gotten to it yet, or maybe they just skipped over it) but both Yuki Onna have actual real names, and their names were different.
Oh...so their appearance is just coincidence? Or are they related? (I thought no one else was watching this show this season, but yay!)

"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."I believe they're related, but I can't say for certain.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."I've made several attempts to read this series, but so I just can't seem to get into it.
I've only really tried the Viz releases at my local Barnes & Noble.
Is it worth following?
Hard to say from just that much information. Mind saying what you like/don't like about what you have read?
My gut reaction is that if the setting does not interest you, then I would recommend not reading it. If the characters are the main problem, they get significantly better as the story continues.
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!I find the overall concept (of what I've heard it's like) of yokia working like the yakuza interesting, but of the first couple chapters I read, just nothing stood out.
It wasn't helped either by the aartwork, which was so busy, but pretty bland.
Well, I just read through the beginning chapters again. The first real story arc begins in chapters 6-7. Until then, it is mostly lighthearted and introductory stuff. I would recommend getting to chapter 8 before making a decision. Or maybe chapter 17, when the first arc ends.

Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!Viz now has the first three volumes out, by the end of volume three its gotten serious.
Never tell people how to do things. Tell them what to do and they will surprise you with their ingenuity. — George S. PattonSo, to follow up, I took a sneak peek at some later chapters and decided to give this series another chance. Hasn't really 'wowed' me, but it seems like it's a still a fairly solid story.
Also, the art, which I called bland a few posts ago is growing on me too.

Huh...red eyed grown-up Yuki-Onna is surprisingly cute as well...I wonder why Nurarihyon didn't just choose her to marry?
As for this episode...call me crazy, but as silly as all the yokai look, something tells me if they existed in real life...they might be a little threatening.
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."You do know what Yuki-Onnas do to men don't you?
"No, the Singularity will not happen. Computation is hard." -Happy EntShe kills men by breathing on them, sure...and in other legends she apparently drains life, but he's Nurarihyon, it's safe to assume he'd be tougher than typical human men.
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."So now we know what Brain, Mouth, and Arms look like. At least, that is who I believe the three leaders from this list we have seen are.
Yu hav nat sein bod speeling unntil know. (cacke four undersandig tis)the cake is a lie!Episode 6.
Much more entertaining than I expected. Finally seeing Yokai-Rikuo losing his cool is definately the highlight.
And I guess "Fear" is this show's version of Nen, Reiatsu, or Chakra.
"Every opinion that isn't mine is subjected to Your Mileage May Vary."
^ Yeah, I expect them to drag out this arc and not go into the kyoto arc at all.
