Call it nostalgia if you want but I have a soft spot for games that I can play from start to finish without lifting either hand from my keyboard (I'll grant that menu navigation is easier with a mouse, however). I get a much greater sense of immersion (regardless of genre)when all of my character's actions can be triggered with an alphanumeric key.

Point and click, gamepads, joysticks, FPS schemes, motion control and other methods I can think of have yet to surpass the keyboard alone as my favorite control scheme for videogames but unfortunately every major PC release nowadays (apart from console ports and MM Os) has some degree of mouse control in regular gameplay. Pure keyboard control seems to have passed into the indie realm.

Are there any recent or upcoming major PC releases that built from the ground up for the keyboard alone or is this particular control scheme dying out?

I can name a number of indie games, and Visual Novels tend to be controllable with keyboard alone, but I don't think those are what you're asking for.

My idea for RPG use only numpad, but I not know much about actual upcoming keyboard-only games.

The Doom 3 mod Into Cerberon could count, I think.

Braid can be controlled entirely with the keyboard.

Most games in emulators can be played with just the keyboard although some games do occasionally get too smart with the presence of analogue controls on whatever platform they were originally written for that you may have to map a joystick to the mouse for certain sections.

Accidental mistakes are forgivable, intentional ones are not.

Ah, the days of sharing a keyboard in simultaneous multiplayer… And getting assigned all the modifier keys because somebody had to but nobody else would.

edit: oops, apparently you're looking for new AAA games.

Well, pretty much every platformer and shmup ever is keyboard only, but those are unfortunately consigned to the indie realm nowadays.

That's new in the sense that it never gets old, but that wasn't what I was looking for. [lol]

Once upon a time 'mouseless' was the standard. I'd just like to know if it's still around now outside of indies, MM Os and bad console ports.
