So, old thread, but it's relevant again due to a new season starting.

I've not actually watched the first episode of the new season, but it reminded me that I had the first season downloaded (or rather, I remembered that a friend of mine had downloaded it on my old computer), so I decided to give it a try.

As others have said, pretty much Queen's Blade in Japan. Or as I'd more likely put it, as a Harem Series.

The animation is good. The design is, aside from ridiculous, relatively good as well. One of few series where I'd say the main guy is better looking than the main girl (though two or three other girls have him beat).

By the way, the constant ink splatter doesn't bother me at all, and makes for non-intrusive censoring, which is rare as it is. And speaking of the fanservice, while it's there all the time, it's not like in many other harem anime, where the plot basically stops whenever a skirt is flipped or some boobs bounce (but then, the plot would make it through maybe an episode or two throughout the season).

The story isn't all that original, but it works. Standard action-harem fare. It had a bunch of hilarious moments throughout, and the action scenes were good enough, so it was interesting to watch even if you don't like the fanservice.

I did like the characters overall. Sen and d'Artagnan in particular. Sen is a good tsundere, and overall reasonable. d'Artagnan is genuinely stoic but not unemotional, which is kind of rare. And more loyal than anyone else. At first I really hated Gisen, but mostly because when she arrived, they cranked up the worn-out harem double standard abuse. It went poof pretty soon, and she got "better".

Anyway, much like Queen's Blade, it's better than its appearance may suggest, but harem rather than adventure.
