I just picked Strange Journey up. I wasn't into SMT yet when the original came out, but it seems pretty familiar so far. Also, with this game, I now have every English title except the Devil Summoner series and Persona 1 and 2 (and other 2).

Polaris s literally called Star God by Fumi, the scientist, on Triangulum precisely because the Administrator IS God. And who makes God? The Great Will/Axiom/Canopus.

Same with Brahman as DDS God as they are counterparts.

Since the conversation's moved on, I'll just quickly say that I found it easier to care about Yamato's side of the rivalry because he's more reasonable about the Septentrione threat than how Ronaldo comes off. And I do stress the comes off part. If you are allowed to have bad impressions about Yamato, I can do the same for Ronaldo.

[up][up]Counterparts don't mean they're identical. Polaris may be a Star God, but she's not YHVH, no matter how similar their narrative functions are. Also, as we've been over quite a few times, the Axiom is not the Great Will. Different names with different meanings for both their English and Japanese titles, not to mention that every instance of the Great Will that I've seen always uses the Japanese name 大いなる意思, which isn't what they use for the Axiom.

Heck, even knowing what the word "axiom" means should tell you that it's different from the Great Will, especially since "will" and "axiom" are not synonyms to each other.

I just said counterparts, which included Canopus the "Divine Order of the Universe"

[up]Ah, sorry for the misunderstanding.

I'm currently on Delphinus for my Original Chaos run for Strange Journey Redux. Going up against Asura with Braveheart is going to be so sweet.

I was originally going to go Original Neutral afterwards, but I figured that going to one of the Plus endings might be better since I want to unlock the demons in the new routes.

What new demons do you get on the new routes?

[up]I heard that you get Demeter for getting one of the new endings, and you can also unlock the four new superbosses after beating them.

So I regret to announce it, but the LP is on hold. I'm just going through a massively stressful time in my real life right now, and as fun as the LP is it's also become a huge ball and chain. As it's by far the least important activity I'm doing in my real life right now, I decided I need to put it on ice; specifically, I've decided I'll finish the game before I resume, and I'm at a good breaking point anyway.

So sorry, but please understand.

Yeah it's totally cool. It's not like YHVH's universe is exactly the most scintillating part of the game anyway. You've done most of the important bits.

Playing through Strange Journey Redux makes me hope that, if V decides they want accident-only demons, there will be ways to guarantee fusion accidents and guarantee that a demon from the accident-only race appears.

I want to get Strange Journey Redux but I'm incredibly conflicted.

I have the first Strange Journey but haven't quite completed it yet so I'd be throwing away a lot of progress to restart. On the other hand, Redux has more content and quality of life improvements and I'm a big of a sucker for that sort of thing. Plus I'm liking Alex's look.

On the other hand, I'd have to go through that teleportation maze again and that took a self-made flowchart to get past.

Apparently it lacks an english dub? That's probably clinches things as a "No"...

I'd totally play a game focusing on 25 years ago in the IV-verse, with Past Flynn or Akira as the main character and Defense Minister Tamagami as the Big Bad.

[up] It would be interesting, but I think it's endings would all be Downer Endings... Law would set the stage for Blasted Tokyo in IV, Chaos would set the background for Infernal Toyko, and finally Neutral would establish the Firmament forming over Tokyo or something...

Interestingly the game's timeline in the Hunter Notes says Tamagami worked with "a mysterious woman" in his evil scheme. I wonder who this was? I'd guess either Gabriel or one of the White, as it doesn't seem in character for the Goddess of Tokyo.

Womb of Grief's Fourth Sphere: You like teleport mazes? You like the invisible midair pathways from Horologium? How 'bout the two stirred together into a smoothie? Well to be fair it was more the latter than the former, so while it was a little easy to get lost it was easier to navigate than the Second Sphere's sea of damage and ailment titles. Those hordes of Megido-spamming Decarabia can go die in a fire though.

Forneus was a decent boss fight though it looks like I killed him before he could really showcase his main gimmick. Being thrown at Alex immediately afterwards, though? That was something I hadn't been expecting and I had to tread carefully during the opening turns in order to revive/heal the damage Forneus managed to inflict on my team. That was a fun battle.

After that I took on the first two Wardens, Isis and Volvo, and the Wardens definitely remind me of FOEs in terms of implementation even more that the existing Enemy Search demons. It was quite scary how Volvo's Grand Piercer was hitting for ~1200 damage neutral and ~400 through a resistance but thankfully she and Isis were very glassy glass cannons. After them Captain Jack was a complete letdown because I went in prepped for war only to discover that he's been nerfed; I didn't see anything from his OG Strange Journey moveset - Rain Strike, Sunset Melody, and Pure Blue - just basic Gun skills like Single Shot and Airstrike with one or two ailment inflicters in there like Terror Bullet.

[up] NO teleport mazes are the worst.

Hey in Devil Survivor is there any way to replace redundant passive skills on demons? Like, Hecate is already strong to all elements naturally (I presume?) so can I replace anti-most with, say, null physical somehow?

[up] I don't think it's possible to do that. I did fuse her with Race-D so that she takes less damage from a certain Bonus Boss's field attack.

The point of Hecate having that passive is so she can be fused off and give it to another demon.

Asura down. Brave Heart really does make the fight so much better, though unfortunately you can only use it on Asura starting from Cycle 2. Now to move onto Eriadnus.
