If I recall, early plans for SMTIII were it to be a multi-part game named after times of day, "Nocturne" being part one. I don't recall how far this went though, the final Nocturne seems pretty self contained.

I wouldn't be surprised if Louis's final message in the Freedom route is a remnant of the idea of it being multi-part though.

Which ending would it have followed? Freedom, TDE, and Demon all have potential sequel hooks but they'd wind up being vastly different games.

Like I said, I don't know how far the idea got. It might have been scrapped before they even knew what the endings would be.

I playing Devil Survivor now, i´m in the 5th Day and...

I always choose the second option, is too perfect for the situation.

Well technically Walter and Johnathan stay dead, but yeah it's basically that.

They weren't dead. In fact they walk around the game plenty. Heck Jonathan can be seen in Mikado. This is after revealing on TV that they are Merkabah and Lucifer. They died when Satan died, who died when YHVH died.

I think you misread.

No I read it clearly. Stay dead implies they already were dead.

Right, because they died when Satan died and don't come back like in Nocturne's everyone lives ending.

Well no one came back to life in Final's Peace ending either. Asahi came back in the Cosmic Egg that happens way before that.

I used to have some simpathy for SMTIV!Law Ending. Needs Of The Many, even Merkabah is dead, No more demons in the World, sorry Tokyonites but i like more my native kingdom where caste division was recently abolished than The Wretched Hive where you lives. I sucks, so i going to kill myself too.

Oh, look I get my own statue. Eh? Nice?.

Given how SMT IV FINAL change all....Now what?. I have to lost my simpathy?. Is better than IV Chaos ending for sure.

I do find it hilarious that apparently Final retcons Flynn needing to die because just being in Tokyo makes him unclean, and that the real reason was because the archangels were still pissed about him helping Mastema lock them up.

IV's Chaos is just another way of imposing order.

They must've been really pissed if they were willing to die along with Flynn as well...or perhaps they were confident that YHVH would simply recreate them?

So. Now i lost all my posible sympathy for IV!Law. Wow, you´re so great ATLUS. Neutral is only waaaaay!!!! (just forgot who the demons still running and you've got a lot of people without combat experience living in an area infested.

Some day Law stop being the biggest jerks evers? Even Old Testament God had some Pet the Dog moments, and given how crapsack was the world...He had a point with being a dick.

Seriously, i´m tired who despite how this franchise talk and talk about how all is options, YHWH still be the ultimate enemy, and this stopped being just Lucifer being angry. Is now totally canon.

So, the most unlikeable version of Lucifer is actually fault of YHWH too. Fuck this,

Chaos has SMT II, Nocturne and the Devil Children series. And some Overclocked retcons too.

Well to be fair, once they saw you defeated the Demon King most of the demons in Tokyo got the hell out of dodge. It's at a level easily managed by the hunters now.

And I guess you could kinda read the law retcons in a more charitable light since it points out they aren't quite as strict about death to all filth as the first game implied. Still not great though.

It does add some more fuel to the whole "Flynn is a follower who does stuff and then dies when he has no more use" and Akira is a man destined to rule over others. Happens in the three different Tokyos at some point in IV and happens in three of the routes for Final except for Peace.
