Yeah the first two questions were pretty absurd.

I was actually most stumped by the second.

I went left all three times as well.

Maybe the questions are more reasonable if you're raised japanese? I mean, These are the people that actually did the whole "shun foreign ideas and technology to preserve our outdated way of life."

Or Maybe Yuriko favoured Chaos on purpose when she constructed the hall.

I went with "preserve" for the traditional way of life question because many times throughout history, things like that have ended very, very badly.

Adapt or die. If you don't learn to utilise better tech, you will eventually be conquered by someone that did.

Or you catch smallpox from making unnecessary contact.

Change is unavoidable. It's something that happens with time. Of course there are times when the change is bad, but there's also good change.

Also I recently read some of the translated bit of the directors interview for IV. He said what I already knew: the monastery holds all the power in Mikado while Ahazuya was just a figurehead. Which only furthered how little actually changed once the Four Archangels appeared and took over.

Not to mention after going back to the CLIPPED WINGS DLC and that Mastema specifically mentions they helped found the kingdom, and the caste system existed since the founding of the kingdom. It feels like removing it was less them doing a good thing and more them using it as a way to make themselves look good.

One's about excluding a guy from playing in a major sports event because it would be unfair for a guy who was born naturally tall to have an advantage.

The other is about a village obtaining a great amount of technology from a friendly visitor, but at the cost of customs and values changing as a result.

The third is whether you would let your loved one live or die if they were stuck in a permanent coma.

  • not to exclude
  • bring on the change
  • let them die

Okay, so, I'm finding the first day of the Triangulum Arc to be rather difficult so far, mostly due to the fact that you have to do so much extra demon-buying and fusing to get a roster that's even half-way decent compared to if the game started you at Lv. 1 like on the Septentrione Arc. Haven't beaten Denebola yet as it's gimmick heavily limits the most effective means of attack, and Nemean Howl just decimated the whole party.

I saw that someone is playing the Triangulum route first on youtube.

Does Polaris sound like Tara Platt?

Okay, finished the first day. Very, very, very ugly win (Airi, just 'cause you're the only one who survived doesn't mean you can call Denebola a pushover!) but I made it and hopefully the game will open up a bit more now. There seems to be a running gag where you can accuse Miyako of being Yamato in drag, heh. Doesn't take her long to start showing similarities to her brother, though in different ways.

I heard the way Yamato and Miyako developed their worldviews might be due to being raised the old fashioned way since Hotsuin is a very old clan and prefer old values that don't really work in the current era.

@ Omega: It just sounded to me like the same sort of thing that happened to the Native Americans, Pacific Islanders, and other marginalized people throughout history. These days, if an uncontacted group of people is discovered, like in the jungles of the Amazon for instance, the outside world making contact is actually discouraged to prevent things like this happening.

I've only seen that in fanfics. Although one of them notably uses that to explain why Yamato thinks the world sucks - he wasn't aware it had improved since then.

Spica is a butt. Interesting gimmick, but a butt nonetheless.

I'm enjoying the voice acting a lot so far. I felt Overclocked had a pretty strong dub overall too, but the performances here are a bit more energetic and so far no one's been as shrill as Midori was, so that's a definite plus. Props especially to Daichi's voice actor for being able to pull off both his silly and serious sides, as well as Fumi's voice actress (definitely Amanda C. Miller; I recognize that disinterested tone from Danganronpa's Big Bad). Joe and Jungo's voices are the only ones I could say something bad about, but not because the performances are poor just that they don't really sound anything like I had imagined them too.

Anyone worried about whether the Hero's dialogue options are still super-trolly and irreverent or not need not worry; they're probably even worst now. Like even aside from the "Miyako is Yamato in drag!" running gag, having the Hero hit on the girls via the dialogue options are old hat in Megami Tensei are old hat by this point, but propositioning them is something I haven't see before.

I don't even know if we love them still because most of their recent games have been digital only here and Nintendo/Sega doesn't like to release digital sales figures on their games unlike companies like EA or Sony.

[up]I personally found the fact that SMT 4 only costs 20 euros on the E-shop quite suspicious in that regard. Granted, there's a fuckload of DLC attached to that particular title, but it's still awfully cheap for a quality game like that.

Unless they subtracted the godawful world map from the price. Then it makes sense.

I have and never will understand what the problem with the world map is. Never bothered me.
