I don't think it's terribly bad... Light in the live action movie was worse.
But hey, at least Nao looks cute? I wish they stuck to the manga design for her though... she looks way too idol-y.
AND LOL. Just wait till you see what they turned Fukunaga into. The goddamn bastards.

I...I saw. There was a link on the trope page. Dammit, the one girlthing I ever thought was legit good looking, and they turn her/him into...
THAT.
New User HandleOnemanga is dead. PLEASE tell me someone knows where I can finish reading this series...
New User Handle^ Manga Fox looks up to date to me.
Done, and there hasn't been anything more, recently.
Or at least not that I've seen.
Anybody know if/when there'll be more?
There will be more, but it's unclear when. I hope the hiatus will end soon.
Currently taking a break from the site. See my user page for more information.Hey, I was wondering if anyone could read this:
http://www.mangafox.com/manga/liar_game_roots_of_a/v02/c000/3.html
There are a few dates on the left, and I'm not sure what the second two are referring to. But I hope it's good news, hiatus-wise.
Wait, when did I get a manga blog?Well, I got hooked on this manga, and I went through an Archive Binge, and am now sad because I want mooooooore.
But soft! What rock through yonder window breaks? It is a brick! And Juliet is out cold.Welcome to the club.
By opening this manga you have agreed to become a participant in the Liar Game...
(EDIT: The first arc of Kaiji would do surprisingly well as a Liar Game Round, though in my opinion it goes downhill after that.)

The Revolution Will Not Be Tropeable^ That would be extremely scary.
Okay, I have to say this: People keep talking about LGT making a profit off the Liar Game.
This is impossible. All of the money came from them in the first place. They (or their sponsors?) have invested a shit-ton of money in this tournament. Their best case scenario has them breaking even, by getting money from the losers somehow.

Read my stories!Actually, since they charge money for dropping out, they could, in theory, make a profit.
However, when you take into account miscellaneous expenses and the difficulty of collecting the debts, I find it unlikely that they're even trying to make a profit on this. The real point is to determine the "Liar King".
Currently taking a break from the site. See my user page for more information.Don't sneeze at the dropping out rates. People who dare to continue to the next round after winning are probably pretty rare, and since they charge 50% of the winnings, It's easy to imagine them coming out with nearly 150% of their initial investment thanks to those. Well, that's before factoring in the costs of setting the games up, but still.
It's also possible that the implied slavery ring they have going on could be quite profitable.

I don't think there is a slavery ring. The money is probably just a way of getting people to compete.
Currently taking a break from the site. See my user page for more information. That was invented for the television show. There's no indication of any Liar King within the manga itself.
...Am I the only one who remembers Akiyama specifically explaining this? Getting money from the losers "somehow" (and there's every reason to believe that they are capable of doing this) is the basis of their business model.

The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableI've never seen the TV show, but I'm pretty sure the Liar King was mentioned in the manga at one point.
Currently taking a break from the site. See my user page for more information.I believe it was referenced in a promotional quiz concerning "How good of a liar are you?" I'm quite sure it has not been mentioned in the story itself.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableIt doesn't work though, since they're only making up money given to the winners. The only time they can make any kind of profit is with in-game penalties, such as during the second Revival Round, since that money is still paid back from the losers. The potential profit pales in comparison to the amount invested.
But soft! What rock through yonder window breaks? It is a brick! And Juliet is out cold. No, see, they are all zero-sum games, meaning the ignoring those rare penalty cases and assuming they can get the money out of the losers using those shady methods they keep alluding to, they will break even after each game. And then they get half of the winner's money as profit if he decides to drop out. And the profit there is usually substantial enough to easily cover the misc. costs.
The only time it's even possible for them to lose money is when a single person wracks up so much debt that even the shady vagueness can't cover it, which, given all the implications, probably isn't very often.

The winners have to give back half of their money to quit the game (which many of them desire to do, the characters we see are the exceptions). So the people in charge get half the money back, but the losers still owe all of it anyway. So they're loaning half and getting paid back the full amount.

The game is on.
Barring the occurrence of unforeseen events you may expect to see me there. Will I have the pleasure of playing against or alongside any other tropers?
