How do the midwestern Tropers feel about Chicago for a destination? St Louis? Farther east? Farther west?

Id start from Omaha, or Lincoln. Omaha would be easier has greyhound and airport access and then go as far east as Chicago which will have similar access.

What about we start with one meetup and THEN talk about alternating years?
Although it might make more sense to split the midwest into eastern and western regions at first. Dunno.
OR we should all go to Maddy's hometown since that is kind of the geographic center.
If we're stuck arguing forever about the location of the first meetup, then we won't get anywhere either. Agreeing to alternate Minneapolis and Chicago lets us move one step closer by just flipping a coin to see which is first, and then we can move on to Step Two.
