Rename?: Test Of Character

Since we have the well-known Secret Test of Character, it's probably not the best name; in fact, I think we should have it for a non-secret test of character.

What the trope is about is a Personality Test used to determine your character's starting stats.

Sounds like Test Based Stats, to me.

That's a name I can live with.

I was doing a Google search when I bumped into this. So ... bump?

IMHO, Personality Quiz would be the better title, or certainly a redirect. Personality quizzes are also something of a meme, with entire sites dedicated to users hosting their own.

The trope is about a game assigning stats based on a personality quiz. Simply calling it Personality Quiz makes it sound like it's about any personality quiz anywhere for any purpose. The fact that you mention that there are entire websites dedicated to them indicates that you've lost the trope in the general thing.

... Yeah, you're right. My bad.

As for the bumping, the rename proposal isn't on those grounds. The name's exremely similar to Secret Test of Character, and could benefit from being more distinct. It's about a quiz for the player, (usually) not a test for the in-universe characters.

Bumping this up for a few votes. If it there's still a clear lead I'm going to do the swap tomorrow.

Test Of Character's description was copied to the new Player Personality Quiz page, the wicks were fixed, and there is now a note about the rename on both the Renamed Tropes page and the Renamed Tropes thread in this subforum. It would be great if someone were to look over the changes I made and check my work though.

I made Test Of Character a redirect for now, but I am thinking that it might be a good idea to either cut it or make it a redirect for Secret Test of Character in order to avoid more confusion.

Crown Description:

Test Of Character is not, in fact, related to Secret Test Of Character.

The article has a very low number (13) of wicks, but a majority of them (7) are mistaking it for STOC or otherwise misusing the trope.

Please discuss/add alternative titles.
