It was a little bit of a double standard, yeah, but the episode made up for it with the sheer broitude that was Ryan and Espo constantly advising Castle. Seriously, forget Beckett for an episode and just let those three go out on an epic adventure together it would be the best episode.
deviantArt | TwitterRoad Trip! Road Trip! Road Trip!...or something like that
"You can reply to this Message!"Didn't they kindof do that already with the episode centered in Atlantic City?
I agree it should happen more often though...
I'd actually like A Day in the Spotlight episodes for all the secondary characters: Ryan and Esposito, Laney (or maybe Laney and Esposito), Alexis and even Martha (or Alexis and Martha solving a mystery together?).

Trump delenda estWhile Beckett and Castle are away, the Castle Women have to team up with the NYPD to solve a crime ? ^^
"You can reply to this Message!"I have absolutely no idea how that would work outside of a fanfic, sadly. Maybe, MAYBE a Beckett/Alexis teamup could happen, although I'm not really sure how.
deviantArt | TwitterWell, Ryan and Esposito would get assigned a murder which is "strange". As they have not access to Castle for creative theories to jog their mind on it they decide to get to the "source" ("Nature AND Nuture!") and call in Martha. Hilarity Ensues. Alexis could simply get dragged along by Martha or give in to curiosity.
Yeah, probably not going to happen, but it sounds fun.
"You can reply to this Message!"Remember Alexis has worked with Lanie, that could factor in as well.
Trump delenda estIsn't Alexis supposed to be in college?
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. She is in Columbia, which is in NY.

"You can reply to this Message!"Given how much time Castle spent angsting about it I thought she was going farther.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. She was originally going father away (Stanford, if I remember correctly) but then decided to go to Columbia because its closer and probably just as good.
"You can reply to this Message!"Oh man, last night's episode. Poor Castle
L'idylle est mort.Good lord that episode was dark. Just goes to show what happens when you break the guy who's usually the eternal optimist of the show; it makes me wonder, what would Castle without Castle be like? I somehow suspect that Beckett would be a hell of a lot darker at the very least.
deviantArt | TwitterDid not see the end reveal coming. At first I thought that she was like in a city on the West Coast and then they pan around to reveal...the Eiffel Tower. That was quite a shock.
Also, that whole scene with Castle and the getaway driver. I mean I understand his desire to protect Alexis but Jesus Christ, did you have to torture the guy to get information? The fact they just showed Beckett while you heard the driver's screams just gave me a chilling mental image of what Castle was doing to him, but it did make the whole scene much more powerful.
And in regards to the same scene, I think Nathan Fillion has perfected the thousand yard, dead-eye stare.
"I'm Commander Shepard, but I guess I'm now your therapist."Someone watched Taken way too many times.
Never trust anyone who uses "degenerate" as an insult. But what I find the most impressive is that Castles dead eye stare has a kind of sadness to him, you can tell that he is usually not that kind of person. Meanwhile, Malcom Reynolds stare is much more cold and decisive. The fact that the same actor can put so much into just a facial expression is what impresses me.
You lost!Remember some of his scenes from Firefly, they do strike a very similar cord as Monday Night Fillion.
Also, in regards to the Skype® product placement, I actively groaned out loud when I saw it. I was like "Really?" However, It actually makes a hell of a lot of sense once the final scene comes around, as 911 is not a valid emergency number (It's 112) for French emergency services.
"I'm Commander Shepard, but I guess I'm now your therapist."Yeah, same in Germany. Actually, its the emergency number in a lot of european countries.
You lost! But because 911 is so well known in Europe, in most countries dialing it still gets you to emergency services.
So many groan worthy moments in the latest episode. Castle in France Green Screen Effect!
I was praying 'till the end that this was all an elaborate prank on Castle pulled off by some of his millionaire friends. Give him the full spy experience. 'cause it was way too hammy otherwise.
Well it did make kind of sense, and you can excuse the green screen since they obviously didnt have the time/budget to film in real paris. Also, Castle's dad has been foreshadowed a little, I only wish it would have been done a little more, you know? They should have had him questioning about his dad and trying to find him, before concluding with this episode. Anyway always nice to see Christopher Hheyerdahl, too bad he always has to play a bad guy, I was looking forward to see him as morally ambiguous.
You lost!I enjoy Castle a whole, whole lot, but I must say that I enjoy the usually mystery-of-the-week episodes better than the big conspiracy ones. The ones involving the conspiracy behind the murder of Beckett's mother, the international intrigue ones, and now this business with Castle's dad (which, if it was supposed to be a surprise, they really shouldn't have tipped it in the teaser). Don't get me wrong, I have yet to actually dislike an episode of Castle, but the above makes me groan much more often than a regular episode.
And oh yeah, LOVE Fillion's thousand-yard stare. He's a light and funny guy, but he can totally sell the idea that given the right circumstances, he could toss you in an airlock and send you for a walk in space and (as Mal) sleep well that night (whereas Castle would NOT sleep well that night).

I liked the ones about Beckett's mother, but they formed a coherent story arc with build-up and foreshadowing and everything. This... this was just dumped on us out of nowhere like some kind of drama-bomb. The incongruous bits of humour didn't really help. (Castle, I think you have bigger things to worry about right now than your expensive phone.)
Also... Volkoff?

I think it was a bit unfair that Castle got grief for letting Meredith stay under pressure but Beckett didn't get grief for also agreeing to it under pressure.
