It's a kind of show you don't see a lot of these days. An amateur detective who really isn't some kind of expert consultant with a string of degrees but just a guy who invites himself along for fun? Extraordinary.

Yeah, save the Darth Matrix stuff for the Games threads, okay? These threads are about the topic.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyThe show is funny has hell. Nathan Fillion is at least 3 kinds of awesome.
FYI, for Nathan Fillion fans, he plays Steve Tyler in the new Wonder Women animated film. The role sounds like it was written for him too.
Sex, Drugs, and RationalityMy wife and I are watching this on Hulu. I wouldn't mind letting the lady cop handcuff me and read me my rights.
"I kind of pegged EVH as sounding like Jack Nicholson's alcoholic Anglophile dad." —Furiko MaruHey, we have a page for this now. Castle. Nice.
I'm enjoying the show, which is a surprise to me. Not one for the stories where the cops are meant to be the good guys, myself.
Tuned in, though, because of Firefly connect, and am sticking around for the characters. Castle, the character, is like Mal all the time in a good mood, which were the times in Firefly when I liked Mal the best.
Also digging the way Castle is with his family. Craxy Mom and ridiculously precocious, ridiculously cute daughter, and all. Works really well.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittySo far, this is my favorite new show of the year. The writing's all really snappy and the characters very unique. Castle's mom...pure gold. She reminds me far too much of my own grandmother, though, which is probably saying more about me than the show.
I believe there is something out there watching us. Unfortunately, it's the government.Okay opinions: Castle and Beckett or Brennan and Booth?
Caskett. Definitely.
This is, however, Captain Mal versus Angel.

No, see, you can't put the finest brunettes on TV in opposition in a way that makes it seem like it is about the guy. That is just plain wrong.
The real question: Given a choice, would a guy rather do Brennan or Beckett?
Because both at the same time is right out, it says here in the rules.
Frackin' rules.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyI'm not a guy, and I'm straight so I'm going to have to use some imagination.

Buuuuut... even though I've known Brennan as a character for longer I think Beckett. She's easier going, has a better sense of humour, and doesn't do that weird hypocritcal thing where she flicks from "We must be totally objective!" to "It's all about doing it for the dead person which means we are already biased in a subconcious way."
But that leads me to the question: Booth or Castle. NOT Angel and Captain Hammer. Personally I lean more towards booth for some reason. Oh yeah, Castle's a lovable jerk that always gets his way. it's cool when you only have to deal with him for fourty five minutes but longer than that... Well... I think I can understand why her daughter is the Straight Man of the family.

New episode!
Stana Katic is hot. With a capital H.
I continue to be amused by Those Two Guys.
The ending was very sad and very happy, simultaneously.
Best Shout out ever, Castle dressed as Mal for Halloween
Lost my shoe...Space Cowboy! I love this show.
"First there are no cows in space. Second, didn't you wear that like 5 years ago?"
"I like it"
Sex, Drugs, and RationalityFor me it would be more a case of Lainie vs Angela (or Cam), because either one is hotter than the lead. And in two years it'll be Alexis, no contest.
Trump delenda estHow did y'all feel about the depictions of the BDSM lifestyle in The Mistress always Spanks Twice? 'Cause, while Castle definitely has a more neutral take than most shows, I still felt like there were an awful lot of subtle jabs against, but no real defenses for. Am I just being to sensitive, or am I right to have expected just a little bit more?
I didn't notice any real jabs at the lifestyle. There were jabs at the kind of person who has to pay for it, but that's not specific to S&M.
And they made a lawyer joke or two.
Fillion said on his Twitter that there was another Firefly reference in the most recent episode. Anyone know what it was?
"I was aiming for his head." Same thing Casey said in The Train Job.
Dont'cha mean what Jayne said?

"I suspect this is all gonna end in screaming and drowning"I see what you did there.
Was I the only one disappointed that Beckett didn't bust out the 'Two kinds of people in this world' speech?
AKA Why The Crap Did Nobody Tell Me That Nathan Fillion Got A New Show.
Anyone else catch the first episode of this? It looks highly promising to me.
