The Lich himself will probably never be a joke, but I don't expect him to come back in a way that permanently destroys Sweet Pea. Killing children or anything child like is such an extreme most R rated gory horror flicks don't have the balls for it. And they COULD do it without S&P leaping down their throats.
Despite my screen-name, ranting to you about One Piece is not my top priority. If anything, we could do with a sort of Bruce Banner arc for Sweet Pea where in mortal danger, he activates the inner Lich and it makes him even more ostracized due to that.
"We be we baby!"Yeah, Sweet Pea could have an arc about battling his literal inner demon and then learning how to use that power for good. Maybe learn it from the Ice King, who has sorta-learned the same.
Edit: if at least part of Martin's story was true, then that explains Finn's fear of the ocean.

It would be incredibly weird for Martin and Finn to not be related, considering the most recent episode both showed them both independently having that weird moment of self-honesty and identical reactions to it (Finn with his baby-self saying he'd never let him go, and Finn's dad saying he always told himself he'd come back to Finn).
Perhaps the Lich and Sweet Pea will be seperated?
Martin is a deadbeat father and careless, thoughtless individual. He almost got a village of people killed because of a fire in his ship.
"We are just like Irregular Data. And that applies to you too, Ri CO. And as for you, Player... your job is to correct Irregular Data."I can't see Sweet Pea being killed off; he could possibly turn back into Lich, but killing him would be cruel. Then again, I'm pretty sure Infant Immortaily isn't something that we can count on, as it is not too long ago when Tiffany got axed.
Thread title changed per request.
"For a successful technology, reality must take precedence over public relations, for Nature cannot be fooled." - Richard FeynmanTiffany was hardly "infantile" though, a tough independent criminal even if he was clearly just a teenager. The key to Infant Immortality is that Children Are Innocent, and an Enfant Terrible would certainly not get the same degree of audience sympathy simply because he/she were a toddler.
The silver comet with its wagging tail, swimming through the sea had to be a "Does This Remind You of Anything?," right?
The image wasn't helped by the fact that the comet swam into large crack in the sea bed. Interestingly, the baby was present even before it happened.
So, just watched the latest episode and two things stuck out to me:
1. That Finn called Martin "dad", that sounds weird, not in that hamfisted way shows typically deal with things like this in "Joshua was my real father and he's the only one I'll ever call dad!" but in that there was no awkwardness in his voice about it at all. He just defaulted to it but could switch to calling him Martin just like that.
2. I was surprised that Martin actually remembered Finns name and by how jovial he was with him. Yes, he's definitely a terrible person who would put himself first in any given situation, but I get the feeling that vague story he told was true. I was also surprised by his offer to Finn to go with him. That seemed like a genuine moment and not just mdeflecting Finn's questions or objections to what he was doing like he had done throughout the entire episode.
I'm interested to see how this goes. I can't say I would be thrilled if Finn and Martin ever have a close, loving, father-son relationship, the character doesn't seem built for that. But, I do hope we get some closure. And info on Finn's mom I guess.

Agreed with you on the mom thing. That's a hella important question.
Despite my screen-name, ranting to you about One Piece is not my top priority.I thought Finn was too trusting of Martin, even when he revealed that he pretended to lose his arm. Yeesh. Everything about Martin is terrible and it would be interesting to see a sort of gradual character growth back to a more fatherly figure but honestly don't see it ever happening. Finn's mom on the other hand, I'd lose to see where the writers go with that :O
His offer for Finn to go with him felt more like a "let's get him to join the dark side so he stops bothering me" moment (Sorry I don't know the trope names for these).
"Listen, all magic is scientific principals presented like 'mystical hoodoo' which is fun, but it's sort of irresponsible."Aside from his horrid abuse of the little clay people, he actually seemed more sympathetic this time around. Deadbeat dad, yeah, but more like a normal deadbeat dad you could sympathize with.
The clay people thing was helped by the fact that they understood what was happening and just felt like being nice. I doubt he'd actually make them help him either, forcing servitude on them that way would probably be too much work for him.
Like I said, I don't want them to ever actually be "close" because I don't think that mesh's well with what they're trying to do with the character, but I do want them to get to a place where it seems like maybe he actually does care about Finn and Finn can let things go even if things aren't going to be all storybook and they can't be best buds. Finn already seems to be there, actually.
Edit: I still don't get why he pretended to lose his arm.

Only way Finn could have a worse mom than dad is if it's Peebles.
"Show us the Galaxy Warp."The clay people may have understood what they were doing but Martin was about to leave them to die, bloated and unable to move. Don't forget he also (unintentionally) killed GGGG (maybe they'll bring him back, like they did with Prismo).
"Listen, all magic is scientific principals presented like 'mystical hoodoo' which is fun, but it's sort of irresponsible."Damn, those lemonguys are creepy!
"We be we baby!"Goddamnit - I was hoping we didn't have to deal with Lemongrab again - I fucking hate this guy almost, if not more than Martin... And I don't see this ep. redeeming him, either.
New Web Browser, same old Shokew. Is he still hung over FP? We need a new woman for Finn to lose.
"We be we baby!"I hope kids don't confuse "gaily" for homosexual.
"We be we baby!"That was just messed up. what was the message inside all this?
"We be we baby!"I'm so confused.
i. hear. a. sound.I thought there were more adults who watch AT than kids anyway. And ugh, just when I was starting to forget about Lemongrab he and his ridiculous voice return.
"Listen, all magic is scientific principals presented like 'mystical hoodoo' which is fun, but it's sort of irresponsible."
I've not actually played that game, but didn't the villain Seymour turn into a total joke by the end because he kept trying to worm his way into the story after already being defeated numerous times?
