Isn't it explained in game that they manifest automatically due to dream...stuff?

Jane: I did decide that the chemicals in an Apricorn that react to create pocket spaces have been reverse-engineered; so an alternative material could be used for a ball interior. It would have to be cheap, though.

Devon Research Project

Subject: Pokèball of unknown origin, hereafter dubbed "Dream Ball".

Manufacturer: Unknown. Dream Ball lacks any identifying marks from any known production company.

Capture Rate: Computer simulations suggest a 100% rate, but all real items found already contain Pokèmon and can not be used for testing.

Structure: A Dream Ball appears to have a structure identical to that of a common Pokèball, but the elements composing the apricorn shell cannot be identified by our current instruments.

Important Notes: The vast majority of all Pokèmon contained in Dream Balls have alternate biochemistry than typical Pokèmon of the same line, resulting in unique abilities commonly referred to as "Dream World" abilities by trainers. Trainers in possession of Dream Balls have no recollection of how they obtained them.

Guys, should we really refer to a Pokemon's hidden abilities as Dream World abilities? I mean, suppose the next generation comes out and there are other ways to get Pokemon with such abilities. What would we call them then?

And we have Darmanitan with Zen Mode already in-game...but I think DW abilities are fine until we're used to them, then Hidden Abilities (HA) later...

The same thing we call shinies: Rare variations on an individual pokemon.

Generally, such attributes are already referenced as simply rare patterns of biology/behavior.

And like in PMD, a Pokémon probably doesn't exhibit exactly one Ability most times; it's usually closer to a continuum of strengths.

I'm not sure what the best way to handle the Dream World/Entrelink in general is...

I temporarily handwaved DW abilities as merely something that you might get to see once in a blue moon. Beyond that, I'd surmise they work and manifest exactly as any other ability.

We could say that Fennel's recent research into Munna/Musharna's Dream Mist has found that Pokemon are interconnected in their dreams. They can also summon manifestations of whatever they saw in their dreams within that special region in Unova designated as the "Entralink".

Any critique on the article itself?

Anything I can add to solve that?

I'm not sure; maybe if it was a section of a pokeball article it would work, but on its own it seems more like a footnote than an article.

About Pokeballs: To me at least it does seem as if they are some form of matter-to-energy converter, which would make them, as Silent Reverence said, very expensive: aka 200 Pokedollars and up.

Also, are we keeping Pokemon Special's interpretation in mind? Where they are able to peek outside of the orbs?

Realize that 200P is the price of a bottle of water. Not expensive at all.

EDIT: I'm thinking I'd like to reference that bit, though it'd have to be an enhancement to the basic design. Pokémon would appreciate it, though.

Well that depends. Pokemon are shown to be aware of situation going out outside of their Pokeballs in the anime.

The Pokeball article says that they're powered by apricorn extract, whatever that means.

And I thought that the Dream World was put in the same area as the Pokewalker, that is, far to bactdick insane to make workable, but if not then wasn't it stated that DW Pokemon have differnt abilities because they're you know, not real?

Let's make a TCG!

Before I forget, I'm afraid the Scraggy Article hasn't gotten much headway. What with other things bearing down on my shoulders (Math test, paper for English, a presentation in Biology) I won't be able to have it done anytime soon. If I do manage to get my sense together I could have a rought draft up by the beginning of May, but I'm not making any promises.

Sorry for the delay.

Well, I should report that the Minccino article is on the workings, I mostly lack social structure; the Latii article is waaaaay behind but I can complete it before the meantime. As usual both are open for collaboration. Also, I have yet to finalize the third revision of the Nidoran article, which is missing some sense in courtship and mating, and in exchange drop some of the excess Nidoking awesomeness (and coupled Grimdark). I've yet to complete the missing section of the Hoothoot article, and I'm still searching for worthy fanart for the Lileep entry.

And when will the SWOT be completed? When the GUIDELINES are officially posted! grin

[down] Who doesn't? waii — but it was going kinda overboard. So I'm cutting some of it or make the other members of the line even more awesome to compensate
