In theory, we could even start the project fresh...Ow! Ow! I kid, I kid!

You can't really say that until all the wiki pages get cleaned out of existence as well...

Hey, step away from the cutlist, mister!

This "faculty lot" you speak of sounds like a place of great power...

Oh thank God, I was completely lost with the old forum. It would have been nice to preserve the original thread, however. I enjoyed some of those posts.

Perhaps we can move things more slowly this time. I would support starting over completely.

Oh yeah, my episode ideas and lengthy descriptions are lost but since that was all just "clutter" I can STFU.

Cleaning out the wiki pages would be easy. evil grin We wouldn't need to cut them, since we'd need all of them even after a reboot.

I would say cut almost everything except the main wiki page.

Cut or just blank? After all, even if we reboot things, we'll still need a Season 1 page, and so on.

We are currently just discussing a hypothetical! Do not freak out and think that we decided to reboot the project again without letting everyone give their input!

Almost everything.

If we do reboot, much of what is there seems unneccesary. We don't need season guides for seasons that have not been forumalated yet or a page on fighting styles. I imagine character relationships would change with a reset.

Perhaps I am being a tad too hasty. It just seems to me that everyone's attempt to get into the story has made much of the show incomprehensible.

Right, we wouldn't need at Season 2 page just yet...but we'd need one eventually. Same with pretty much every page we have. Unless you think we'd want to rename all of them, there's no point in cutting them only to remake them later.

Edit: I'm guessing I understand about 95% of what's going on in the show, and it trails on down from there for everyone else (all the way down to 1% for people like Magus who have barely bothered to follow the threads the moment their character got accepted). If we did reboot things, I think we'd have to craft things from the top down so that the plot, you know, actually makes sense, instead of from the bottom up like before.

So, we have a few options:

  • Wait for Janitor to get our threads back, then continue as before.
  • Continue discussion where we left off, only now with a bit more organization when it comes to threads (effectively rebooting the forum).
  • Reboot the entire project so that the plot makes more sense and the focus is less on characters created by people who have abandoned the project.

If we're going to do a total reboot, I must insist that we keep most of what we have. This cycle could be eternal if we don't know where to draw the line.

Stuff what I do.

You know, I'm actually in favor of completely reconstructing the show. We've been trying to fit a bunch of characters and plot points into a coherent storyline, when it really should be the other way around. We need to decide what kind of story we're doing, and stick to that. Once we've decided that aspect, that's the time we should be crafting characters and plot points that fit into that kind of storyline.

But if everyone else wants to keep the show the way it is, you know, that's cool too.

Thirding Kara's comment.

Personally, I'd rather we didn't reboot, but I think shifting the focus around so that we see more from the perspectives of characters created by people who are contributing to the show would make sense.

Characters who stand to lose from such a change:

  • The Adversary
  • Bisected
  • C Trombley
  • Furiko
  • Jethro
  • John
  • Lull
  • Sae
  • Tropey
  • Zeta
Note that there are other contributors that are no longer with us, but their characters are already in such small roles that cutting their roles down doesn't gain us anything.

Characters that stand to gain:

  • arks
  • Bobby
  • Jinxed
  • Kat
  • Kyler
  • mrsaturn
  • Pentadragon
  • SSOT
  • VB

Characters of indeterminate status (maybe here, maybe not; would all get lesser roles)

  • Fawriel
  • Hikari (he's made it on Vent a few times this week)
  • Murky

No change

  • Chaingun
  • Darth Matrix
  • Freezair
  • Ironeye
  • Karalora
  • Korgmeister
  • Matrix
  • Tangent 128

If we go for the reboot, I say we change some of the rules to offer a little more creative freedom.

What was the wrong kind of creative freedom in the first place?

The kind where everyone loots the Fourth Wall for their favorite items in fiction. The kind where everyone wishes for the world to be in their image. The kind where the main characters are running around with fictional minions. The kind where it's impossible to foreshadow anything because everything is too random.

Edit: I should also note that if you hate working with restrictions, a group project is probably not a good place to be. For me personally, my best work is done trying to make things fix in the context of things that I cannot change, but I know some people have trouble being creative unless they have the freedom to do anything. But, uhh, yeah, if your creative output is inversely proportional to that amount of things you cannot choose yourself, you're really in the wrong place.

I think that we need restrictions.

Should someone make a crowner regarding the reboot?
