I'm actually wondering if that weapon story was written by Yoko or people from the XV team, because it's surprisingly elegant.
It's fairly straightforward for the first three tidbits, but the last one manages to subtly express the core of their relationship (Noctis and his father both love each other and wish to have a more fulfilling relationship, but Noctis thinks he has to respond in accordance with what he assumes are his father's expectations even when presented with an opportunity to tell his father about his feelings) without explicitly spelling it out for you and in only a few words.

Does anyone know how I can get Emil to sell me weapon?. I've heard he sells weapons if you get him to stop by the resistance camp and he's only stopped by there once in my entire playthrough of every route and I missed him. He's always near the desert camp and he only sells materials and chips over there
Spoilers for second part of route A playthrough

All of the smaller blogs/review sites that have reviewed the game (Dual Shockers, RPG Fan, Gameblog.fr, etc) have given this game 9.0's so far. I can't help but wonder in light of that what the game's aggregate score on various sites is gonna end up being.
Not because I personally care that much about the reviews in and of themselves (I was going to get the game no matter what and by all accounts it has lived up to my expectations in the areas that really mattered to me, which are the characters/story), but because I'm wondering just how much more warmly mainstream critics are gonna take to it in comparison to Yoko's other games, which have all gotten a middling reception.
A lot of people just take a cursory look at reviews and don't bother if the game's gotten below 70 on aggregate or w/e so if this game is well-received and sells well maybe it will actually make a reasonable amount of money so that Platinum and Yoko can make more games together.

Automata debuts at nierly 200k in Japan.
For reference, the original Nier sold like 76k combining both Gestalt and Replicant sales together. Apparently Drakengard 1 got 250k for lifetime sales and that was the highest it's had since. I think this might be the one to finally put the series into that niche yet successful market that games like Persona had.

I'm genuinely quite happy to see that. Yoko and Platinum deserve it.
edit: For some more comparisons, these numbers are actually slightly better than Bayonetta 1's sales in Japan (reportedly it sold 138k in the first week).

This is good to hear!
That's not "slightly" to me.
"Please crush me with your heels Esdeath-sama!Oh you're right, I completely derped and misread Bayonetta's sales. This game actually did significantly better than Bayonetta.
I should however point out that the number I cited was just the PS 3 sales, with the Xbox 360 sales the first week actually added up to 204 k but it doesn't take away from the accomplishment.
EDIT: Should also point out that the number doesn't include PSN sales.
Apparently, the game is #3 on the Japanese PSN store.
Some other interesting metrics:
- This game outsold Resident Evil 7's first week on PS 4 apparently by around 10k units lol. I understand that the FPS gameplay probably contributed to that a lot but it's still significant when you consider that RE has been around for a long time.

It makes me really happy to know that a game that is both by Platinum and Yoko Taro game is managing to sell well. Platinum are really masters of efficient game design and player convenience, and it would be great if they got the chance to expand and extend those advances into the rest of the industry.
A Cyber Connect 2 Collab with Platinum would be a dream come true for me.

Watch SymphogearI'm a little bit concerned with how the game's western sales are going to turn out though. The game is getting sandwiched between a new Mass Effect, a new Zelda (which seems like it's going to be the best received game in that series in a while), and a brand new game that has gotten great reception and with more mainstream sensibilities (Horizon).
It's possible that good word of mouth will end up giving the game some longer legs though, and the PC version is yet to come as well.
I would laugh if the game broke 800k sales worldwide because that's more than the entire Drakengard series has sold in Japan so far. Really hoping for 1 million worldwide like Nioh.
EDIT: The game is apparently #3 on Amazon right now. Very good sign.

Nioh is great, too, by the way.
Man, the 8th gen of console games has really been great for Japanese Devs in terms of mainstream and critical success, like they were back in the sixth gen and before.
Watch SymphogearThis year so far alone hs beena good time to like Japanese games. Even a perpetual black sheep to the west like Yakuza got a fair shake.
"Curry killed the pussy hoping that I could kill the hate in you" - Curry, D. "TABOO | TA13OO." TA13OO, PH, 2018Not to mentioned well recieved Niche titles on PC like the Neptunia PC ports and Nekopara visual novels.
Speaking of Neptunia, Yoko Taro would be a great cameo as a gag summon, Emil face and all.

Watch SymphogearNekopara? Can we get a Chocola outfit for 2B?
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Kat from Gravity Rush 2 got a 2B outfit so more cross-promotion is plausible I suppose.
Considering 2B is a white haired snarker, Vanilla's look would be more fitting.
Watch SymphogearTrue. In that case, 9S can be Chocola! That one spoilery trailer scene will be absolutely perfect if he's wearing this.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Reports are coming in that Automata is out of stock in many stores now. I think combined with the sales figure means that they shipped out 200k copies.
Holy crap if true. Demand for this game is real.
Yeah I was about to post that myself.
Maybe that idea I heard about Kamiya and Yoko teaming up to make Drakengard 4 isn't that implausible....
Oh god, what if he uses that to rehabilitate his ideas for Scalebound?
Well why not? I could be entirely wrong here but I got the impression Microsoft was putting a lot of constraints on Kamiya's vision because it looked a lot more generic than his usual work. Square-Enix wouldn't do that to him and he and Yoko actually became drinking buddies during Automata's development, although even then I dunno how it would play out in practice since both of them have very different directorial styles.
I am so tempted to give a Take That! at Keiji Inafune in light of all these awesome distictly Japanese games being so successful.
Pretty rude. Sometimes people make mistakes. He knows he made a collossal one already.

Every accusation by the GOP is ALWAYS a confession.
Stuff that really should've been put in that game, like 90% of all the Noctis/Regis content that's out there. But it's still really sad, again like 90% of all the Noctis/Regis content that's out there.
