Mileena MadnessSo...just saw the end to the final battle in Dragon Cry; only read if you don't care about spoilers.
Yes, Natsu manages to kill a dragon after turning into that hybrid dragon form of his. He straight up sends the thing flying as a first move....into the air....by uppercutting it in the jaw.

Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!Wait so he killed it in only one move?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I mean, I can buy that the Shin Shoryuken would one shot a dragon. I mean, if anything, i'm more annoyed due to Natsu not deserving to use that move.
A corpse should be left well enough alone...At least he finally lived up to his title.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Well no, he just sends it flying into the air with the move; he then proceeds to batter his foe a lot at high speeds, and breaks past the dragon's last move with a Fire Dragon's Iron Fist, that was turning into blue flames at the center. Engulfs the thing in flames before sending it crashing into the ground.
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!In other words, Natsu sucks.
Makes sense to me.
...whew, as much as I hate this phrase, I'm willing to admit I'm salty when it comes to that guy.
One Strip! One Strip!Rob Dragneel. :V
Mileena MadnessI have been becoming very much less tolerant of idiot heroes so Natsu is pretty low on my list of favorite protagonists. Doesn't help that his fighting style has become very boring. He's no Saitama, thats for sure.
Though that final movie fight sounds more epic actually.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."I'm pretty on the fence about them. While I definitely prefer heroes with some brain matter in their heads, if said Idiot Hero types show they can be really smart at things beyond fighting, or just have other interesting traits I can over look it. They're pretty endemic to the genre so you're gonna be running into them.
So if they are funny enough, or just have something else to them, that's ok. I'm not sure what Natsu had at first, but it's long gone now.
One Strip! One Strip!I think my biggest criticism of Natsu, and Fairy Tail as a whole really, is just how there's nothing really unique about how these fights end. It's all "Power of Friendship" speeches and punching really really hard.

Basically. It's nothing bad, it's just extremely by the books with nothing interesting or unique about it.
Not just Natsu, the entire cast is just...boring. archetypes done a million times with nothing unique to make'em stand out. I guess If you're a huge fan of those archetypes, it's appealing and it's still consistently popular despite all of the problems.
But ya know, I got over this series a long time ago lol.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I'm more forgiving of an idiot hero if they have a certain charm & don't take being an idiot to complete moronic levels. I only hate the truly, truly stupid ones with no good reason of being stupid.
Actually considering how all the fights have ended Fairy Tail has finally proven itself to be truly terrible even by the genre's standards as their is no suitable serial escalation or epicness to make up for the lackluster character development.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."The only two characters that have any emotional depth are Gray and Lucy...
The problem with Gray is HE KEEPS GOING THROUGH THE EXACT SAME CHARACTER ARC
and HE KEEPS TRYING TO KILL HIMSELF
and Lucy's problem is she's the designated victim who gets no respect cause in Shonen Respect is BIG Flashy feats of strength... Lucy might be the one who beats her opponent by being friends with them... which kinda funny when a big pillar is suppose to be Friendship... yet follows the classic Shonen trope that He that wins the fist fight is the moral victor... no matter how stupid his point is
True. As much as I like Lucy, even I have fallen into that trap.
She's done pretty well, but she's more likely to need help to win, but this is because she tends to get bad match ups by default, and Mashima makes things much harder for her than Natsu or Erza (which arguably makes her victories more impressive).
That being said, lets remember her fight with Minerva...makes a big awesome Friendship speech despite her huge disadvantage...then promptly gets rag dolled, which is not how things usually go. That incident shaped my view of how Mashima viewed Lucy for a long time (and still does).
That's why this link was so important.
One Strip! One Strip!Really all of these are symptoms of a bigger problem: the series never defies expectations. There's a reason the best part of every arc is the beginning, where there's actually some doubt as to whether or not the good guys will win the current battle.

Seriously this so fun. Just critiquing & picking apart this series at the theams & analyzing what turned it into dogshit at the end.
Its like doing an autopsy on a particualry messed up corpse wrecked due to their life choices & your picking it apart to see exactly what made it so fucked up.
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Another thing is no one feels like they grew or changed as characters in any observable way. The gags and tropes they were introduced with don't have to vanish entirely, but when that's all they still are this late in the manga it it really out of the question to believe the worst of each Fairy Tail member?
Yeah honestly, at best you have cases like Jellal, Gajeel, and Laxus having arcs, but in their cases it just went from being over-the-top Mustache twirling villains, to not overtly assholes after they were defeated.

Grey is still stripping, Juvia is still obsessed over Grey and has no character outside of that, and while some characters have somewhat grown, they are still stuck in their running gags as well.
Yeah. Fairy Tail crashed and burned pretty hard.
One Strip! One Strip!
Oh. Genuinely funny. Good job Dub Fairy Tail.
