/shrugs. I mean, I guess this basically just means we don't have to waste time finding all the c-listers. A few of a b-listers are still missing, most notably Laxus' team.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."So you're telling me the other members came and rejoined with little fanfare and there are still important people missing. Basically, this arc was pointless.
....Well, I'm done.
Bye.
As said many pages ago, we're convinced Mashima just likes to incorporate twist Tropes for no reason other than to keep the manga interesting, and once the hype is done, he finds a way to preserve the Status Quo again. -_-
Well I'm guessing his hands were tied since the Japanese love the status quo so much and having a big change might drive away readers. Sure the US might hate this but they are the intended audience well them and the kids >_>
Mileena MadnessThere's being tied to the status quo, and then there's being chained so hard to it, you're afraid to move out of it to do something new and interesting for more than a few weeks, before retreating back to the same old shit. I can think of several successful manga that change the status quo, or at least change the characters.

A corpse should be left well enough alone...That's why Goku's voice never changed.
¿?¡!He probably doesn't want to drive the anime fanbase away. I think he was bummed that the Rave anime never caught on, and he's so happy FT is not only bigger than Rave, but the anime is so popular it was able to take a year off and still come back (something stuff like Ranma 1/2 and Kenshin couldn't even do and Inuyasha and FMA took over a decade to pull off) he doesn't want to risk losing that crowd.
He's really supportive of the anime, to the point where he designs filler characters for them, and gives them his notes so they had add stuff he didn't have time for, and he just worked himself practically sick getting an arc out in double the time so the anime had plenty of breathing room.
Of course we aren't entirely back at status quo yet. Makarov's still gone and it looks like they really are going to replace him this time.
Hmmm.
That's an interesting way to look at it.
I suppose if I had a successful series, you'd be afraid of rocking the boat a little myself.
And he has the anime pick up a lot of slack that he misses, so I guess it's not like he's not aware of some of his flaws.
I still say he needs to fix this fear of breaking the Status Quo however.
One Strip! One Strip!Yeah they should've switched around again.
So, anyone knows why Zero 11 is taking so long to come out?
Reasons so I wonder how will voice Ard Eer in the anime I know the girls love Jackal's va.
Mileena MadnessIs the Japanese fanbase really going to go mad if the C-List of the Guild is kicked down a chasm and eaten by rabid ferrets? I mean, as long as this has Natsu, Erza, Gray, Lucy, Wendy, Happy and, let's be generous, Juvia, so what if the eternal benchwarmer background fillers are there or not? The Japanese are notorious for caring a lot about the leads and not giving two shits over the rest of the cast (ain't that right, Dragon Ball Z cast?)
Not true. Sometimes the Japanese fanbase gets really attached to minor characters too. Look at the popularity of characters like Lisanna, who hasn't really done hardly anything.
Look how much Bleach suffered because the Japanese couldn't get enough of Hitsuguya even though he was a minor character at best (Guy had his own damn movie!) Look at Once Piece and Triflagar Law.
Now while it's true guys like Nab, and Max wouldn't be missed at all, enough of the minor FT guys have enough fans that they might as well keep them all around, because how do you just get rid of one or two guys in an organization that, as Cana rightly pointed out, most people were raised in and planned to stay with forever.
I don't think Law really counts, since Him and Kid were portrayed alot more prominently then most of the other Supernovas

I'm A Pervert not an Asshole!I'm somewhat uncomfortable with the whole 'tastes of the Japanese fanbase' rhetoric. Like, the popularity polls are mostly a result of people voting for 'the guy who did that cool thing in that chapter I read two months ago' or 'that one cute girl' or stuff like that. And it's mostly teenagers doing the voting. Bringing the fact that they're mostly Japanese into it at all, let alone acting that's the single deciding difference, strikes me as making things really weirdly racially charged for no good reason.
And, I mean, it's not like both of the characters you brought up from other series don't have fairly large devoted fanbases on both sides of the Pacific. And nor is it like either was hurting for focus in the series proper, even before popularity was a factor- covered Law pretty well, and Hitsu was basically the main 'good guy' captain in the SS arc; his presence is what ensured SS was more than just another Quirky Miniboss Squad.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."It is the single deciding factor, because the Japanese editorials only are concerned about what their local market wants, and exports are just an afterthought, one the home editorials don't pursuit; foreign publishing houses have to come to them, not the other way around.
That's why, if there's a case of Americans Hate Tingle in a manga, but that character is loved in Japan, the character will live on no matter what regardless, and viceversa. Those things aren't actually made with us in mind at all.
Speaking of Quirky Miniboss Squad what's your favorite from this series mine is the NDG which was previously Trinity Raven.

Mileena MadnessAaw NDC you're so right, but watch several people completely ignore your factual statement.
Let's face it, its a fact of life. Always about the home market, unless the outside market is far more promising when it comes to money.
The point I was making is that it's not the main factor that makes their tastes different from ours.
I mean, yes, obviously, it's all about the home market for everyone, but there's a difference between acknowledging that and going 'man, Japanese people have terrible taste' when the truer statement is 'man, stupid teenagers who barely care about the story have terrible taste'.
"Canada Day is over, and now begins the endless dark of the Canada Night."Thought you were talking about tumblr for a second oh I'm terrible...
Mileena MadnessIts always Tumblr.
New episode... Seems like everything is the same for Laxus not sure what else he can do now in the arc that's different.
Well this time it's demons!!!

Mileena Madness
I'm actually pleased, if only because I far like the minor characters over Natsu and Erza and are glad they'll be sticking around, since I figured the whole breaking up thing was just so they could get rid of all but the usual leads.
Makes the entire thing pointless, but eh, I can live with it.
