Well, there was no real platforming to speak of in the series afterwards not counting Cavern of Remembrance, until BBS brought it back. I actually saw in a DIY video on YT that apparently Nomura was inspired by Mario 64 and that was the main reason why KH 1 had platforming to begin with.
It was honestly pretty rough around the edges, any dedicated platformer that had game feel like that would get railed for it. It wasn't a bad idea really, the problem was that instead of iterating on it for KH 2 they just vastly streamlined the levels and there wasn't much in the way of exploration as a result. It wasn't really that bad a decision to make the game more combat-oriented I think since plenty of games do that, but it's a bit of a shame.
I wouldn't say BBS brought platforming back. There were only a handful of rooms that actually had platforming to get around.
II Final Mix has some platforming. Despite being super downplayed, it's (ironically) probably the best in the series.

If a tree falls in the forest and nobody remembers it, who else will you have ice cream with? Are people forgetting Re:coded?
Life is more fun with infinite MP.Yes. I also just remembered that 358/2 Days had platforming too.
So, how many Power Stars is Sora gonna need to reach the final boss against Bowsernort?
120 + ten hidden stars.
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."If you know how to use Aerial Dodge and Air Slide directly, you can glitch up the stairs with 0 stars. It does mean you won't have the Glide Cap activates, though.
I have a message from another time...Days' was meh, coded's was pretty good, and if the Growth abilities weren't optional unlockables in KHII Cavern of Remembrance shows we could've had some pretty good stuff. I don't really consider 3D's Flowmotion to be platforming proper.
Dopants: He meant what he said and he said what he meant, a Ninety is faithful 100%.Death By Sleep is probably my favorite KH speedrun strat.
Vanitas is a sleepy boy.
Apparently the PS 4 did fuck up Birth By Sleep.
Adding invisible hitboxes to any fight isn't great, and Trinity Armor would definitely not be my choice considering how many hitboxes are already involved.

KH 1 at Level 1 is fascinating because of how completely unintended it clearly was when the game was first made, compared to almost every other game from KH 2 onward which were designed from the ground up to account/allow for it.
Like. Why did those two dudes at Osaka team do this.
...I appreciate the hell out of Combo Master, and if there was one thing from KH 2 I would like in KH 1 it would be Finishing Plus. Which should be in BBS and DDD as well, frankly.

"Like. Why did the two dudes at Osaka team do this."
Perhaps drugs were involved. Or someone lost a bet. Or someone did on a lark. Either way I'm grateful it worked out.
Because Git Gud that's why.
It's easier than 2FM level one, even though 2FM has more abilities available. Because 1.5's level 1 is weird.
And the game is still not quite properly balanced for it, again, unlike KH2. In fact, when they introduced EXP Zero in 2FM, they also changed where you got some of the abilities, like Scan, to account for it.
I'd rather my games be well-designed and thought-out than hard just for the sake of it.
Poorly-thought out and constructed challenges should be self-imposed from the players, not mandated by the developers.

Yeah, but Git Gud.

That's a crappy attitude to take to things.
Oh really? How does that work?

I think getting one-shot is impossible when EXP Zero is on in I Final Mix. In II Final Mix there are bunch of things that one-shot you at Level 1, like the Dancer's grab move.
EXP Zero in I Final Mix also leads to some other quirks like the damage storage thing.

Well, at least you're proud about it.
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book!Git Gud?
What about Fake Difficulty?
"Eratoeir is a Gangsta."Git Fake Good Difficulty?
Let the joy of love give you an answer! Check out my book! It's possible to git gud at anything, it just depends how much effort you want to put into towards overcoming bullshit design flaws.
I know that "KH3 never" is a meme of sorts at this point, but when do you guys actually think that KH3 is actually coming out? I hesitate to call FFXV his project anymore considering all the changes it went over during its lifespan, and how even then the game itself still isn't even really "complete", but if you take away that it's been a while since we've seen a large scale Noruma project come to fruition. I feel like KH3 is making good progress, but we really have no evidence towards that. If we see some substantial progress (like looks at one or two new worlds) I could see KH3 releasing in 2018, but outside of that I have some serious concerns.
I imagine 2018 is the goal, 2019 if the pull what Atlus did for Persona 5 and delay the game until it's polished to perfection.
"There's not a girl alive who wouldn't be happy being called cute." ~Tamamo-no-MaeI'm expecting a 2019/2020 release date myself. SE doesn't really get big HD projects done in a timely manner anymore and until they do we should assume that things won't go super efficiently.
...
......
The platforming was at its best in KHI and the only bit in the entire series that comes close to matching it was the Cavern of Rememberance
