they're two completely different worlds

Terranort/ASOD chucked her into space on the hunch that a heart of pure light would seek out the/a Keyblade.

Aqua's protection spell from BBS set her on a crash course with Destiny Islands. Which happened to have a candidate for Keyblade wielding at the time.

Funny how that works out.

No that's literally how it happened

We also know Kairi remembers her grandma, and the fairy tale she used to tell her.

When we see Kairi say she doesn't remember anything, the camera shows her lips but not her eyes. In cinematography, especially in Japan, that's typically used as visual shorthand to indicate lying. Or, at least, lack of complete honesty.

And, no, Nomura literally says that Kairi went to the Destiny Islands because she was there when they fell. Everyone returns to the world they were on when it was lost.

I think there may have been two Destiny Islands: The one in front of the door where Sora and the gang fought "Ansem" and the one behind the door where Mickey and Aqua found the Kingdom Key D.

Because Hearts of Worlds and Keyblades and stuff.

It makes sense in my head, but it's hard to explain.

Or it's complete nonsense.

And then the Keyblade led Mickey to the other side of the door where he needed to be to lock it.

So.

Xehanort is actually the good guy. Science must push ever forward. The protagonists of this series just can't seem to get that.

The Princesses don't exactly explain. Why. That's the case. But they say it as part of all their exposition, so it must be true, probably. Maybe there's a translation issue thingy somewhere.

It's. Not clear why Sora doesn't go back to the Islands. My guess is "he didn't want to yet because he needed to find Riku" and "the keyblade".

Like, Donald and Goofy were never on a world that got destroyed, so. I don't think they had. The option. To go back home.

...DDD reveals not all worlds got restored, and some went to sleep instead.

So, like. I dunno what happened to Pinocchio and Gepetto. We know Jiminy didn't get sent back home, presumably because his home still wasn't around.

If I got asked about something I thought was simple all the time, I'd probably be a little surly.

Do you think Nomura likes working on the series? I mean, it would be hard to tell. It's not like he's gonna say "Screw Kingdom Hearts."

But he's been working on it for so long, it may well be his life's work, and I wonder how he feels about that.

Is he proud?

Does he feel trapped?

Would he rather do something else?

I imagine Versus XIII going to shit cannot have felt good.

Especially since, given what rumors we've gotten, it wasn't even mainly his fault, but the XIII team screwing his over to focus development priority on their engine. And given Japanse culture and politeness, he'll never actually be able to say anything about it.

I mean, granted, he probably didn't quite use the development assets he was allowed to have the best way, given the ways he would focus on stuff like procedural cloud generation or cars, and the time he tried to turn the game into a musical.

But the fact that he didn't even really quite have a team of his own for most of it, because they were all pulled over to someone else's project. Seems kinda shitty that someone else got to have procedural cloud generation and d-cup tiddies.

That poll indicated fans want Lightning and Noctis in KHIII, and. I can't help but feel either of those would really hurt, but in a different way.

I know next to nothing about Final Fantasy, but from what I do know I'm totally interested in Noctis being in III and not at all in Lightning.

@Was Hollow Bastion destroyed: I thought it was just flooded. Didn't someone link to a Tumblr post a while back showing that was the case?

I really hope not. Give me Terra. Or Zidane. Or Kain. I would accept almost anyone from any other Final Fantasy game.

I am fully aware that them being in is almost a guarantee due to Wolverine Publicity.

It's not just Wolverine Publicity. Nomura is only really comfortable including characters that he designed wholesale. Which makes all of those quite unlikely except for Kain because Nomura really likes him so he might make an exception.

I mean, Nomura designed some characters for VI, like Setzer and Shadow.

And. Apparently he was the monster/creature designer for V. So that might include Gilgamesh. Or Exdeath. I dunno.

Also, Nomura didn't say anything about Bartz, who he didn't design but ranked high in the poll, so. Bartz might already be in.

Nomura did redesign everyone for Dissidia.

...I sorta think Nomura might be a bit sour over XIII and XV, and I can't say I'd blame him.

I think he's hot more comfortable with characters he didn't design, to be honest.

I would be down for Noctis because he is my precious boy.

Also, I want Noct to meet the Master of Masters because Ray Chase.

I would hope for some lesser know characters, doe.

It does include Gilgamesh actually, though Amano was the one who finalized the design. Setzer's in the same boat which might be why he was actually included eventually.

It's a bit frustrating because Gilgamesh is basically perfect for KH for multiple reasons and hasn't show up yet.

There should be a Gilgamesh multiverse title, to be honest.

Also, everyone winding up back where they originally were explains how Cloud wound up in Hollow Bastion.

I'm kind of annoyed that we never see what happens when Xehanort destroyed Radiant Garden, though. This is a major event, but it's never been given any real focus in a game that loves spending time on establishing backstory.

Mickey's shirt has had more screentime devoted to its backstory than one of the most major inciting events in the series.

To be fair, it sounded like they inteneded the Fall of Radiant Garden for either Birth By Sleep (with Leon and co intended to appear) and Birth By Sleep 2 (which never got off the ground). I could see it being brought up in KH 3 where we'll undoubtedly see Radiant Garden a 4th time and they can still build an emotional moment with Leon and co seeing the world fully restored for the first time since they were kids.

HELL, Make a character arc where some of them want to evolve the world and change things while a few others are a bit over attached to how it used to be or something. Give them SOMETHING to do because they haven't had anything since the original.

Union χ SPOILERS: Guess which world is coming up.

Interestingly, the only Princess of Heart still missing as a character is Kairi. Also, I do wonder if the Maleficent storyline will be advanced now that her world is coming up. Ephemer did hint at her in the latest Union χ updates in Japan after all.

Actually, you'd be wrong. Jasmine hasn't appeared either in Unchained/Union Cross. Agrabah appeared, but Jasmine hasn't.

Random thought...

Is there any official explanation for why Donald and Goofy switch to their classic outfits at the end of the first game? I always thought that was odd, not least because they don't question how they got into those clothes, but they do question it when they revert to their KH outfits in Castle Oblivion.
