The whole battle for Hollow Bastion sequence is one of my favorite moments in any videogame. I still keep a save file just before you head down into it for replaying purposes.

SORA NO! So the PS 4 port is. Something.

It gets better.

So PS3 emulation is kind of horrifying. So PC's not a better option.

I'd be more worried that after all these years they still haven't updated the facial models in KH 1 so that the cutscenes wouldn't look so narmy. Especially since when the first HD remix was announced they advertised that would fix that But I guess I'm expecting too much from an HD port.

Actually, I'm expecting too much when I want bonuses for completing a Game in 1.5+2.5. Like unlocking Sora's KH 2 outfit in KH 1 (This mod is a good example of what I'm talking about), or new cards in Chain of Memories. (Or at least bringing back those old bonuses in the PS 2 version)

The thing about the awkward platforming from KH 1 is that they unfortunately didn't replace it with anything in 2 so it left a lot of the worlds feeling rather bland in terrms of design. I would have liked to see more stuff like the Cavern of Remembrance.

I mean, I imagine if they change KH1 too much it might qualify as a new game, and at that point they'd probably have to finally cut Deep Jungle.

So there's a line between remake and port they probably should follow.

Why can't they use Tarzan stuff, incidentally? Isn't it a Disney property?

Tarzan is the property of the Edgar Rice Burroughs estate. Presumably they couldn't get the rights to use them afterwards, copyright is a tangled web a lot of the time.

Not anymore.

The estate of Edgar Rice Burroughs took it back.

The Cavern of Remembrance was fairly decent platforming, but it was relegated to an optional dungeon because of the nature of Growth abilities in KHII. When compared to how in most other games movement abilities are gained naturally through story progression, it does also limit level design.

The funny thing is every damn thing the Burroughs estate has done or allowed to be made with the Tarzan license since taking it away from Disney has been freaking awful and a bomb.

Why don't they just give it back to Disney and allow them to make more money for them, like the Milne and Barrie estates keep doing, is beyond me. I suppose some sort of actual feud or pride issue is involved, because dammit, the franchise hasn't done a single right thing since leaving the House of Mouse. By now I'd say they need Disney more than Disney needs them.

In fairness, wasn't Tarzan 2 kind of terrible?

If it was my IP, I know I would start a blood feud over that.

It was, but the TV series was okay, and frankly, I'd take even Tarzan 2 over that awful CGI cheapo Tarzan movie they did after leaving Disney.

Warner's live action movie was... eeeeeeeeehhhhh and didn't perform well, and the new animated series seems to be its own kind of little forgettable disaster.

Not sure how it is, but Disney sequels are often best ignored.

Except Lion King 2. Pocahontas 2 was also more interesting than the original.

That's what I heard about a lot of the Disney sequels from that time period - that they were more unremarkable than outright bad.
