I'd be all for some Star Wars, but...
The thing about A New Hope is that the Empire straight up murders billions of people, which...well, feels kind of at odds with Kingdom Heart's tone.
Which isn't to say that the series can't be dark, and plenty of people first saw A New Hope when they were kids. But still...Kingdom Hearts doesn't really go for "death" so much as "hearts corrupted by darkness". It does sometimes, but never on that scale.
I think you could still do it...but I feel like it would have to be treated as a major Wham Episode.
This is just my personal headcanon, but I think that if the likes of Palpatine ever showed up, he ought to be treated with the same level of dread as Xehanort. The sheer scale of his crimes is...horrifying, really. This is an evil man.
Oh God! Natural light!Replace the giant planet ending laser with one that overwhelms a world in darkness and you're good.
The stormtrooper Heartless could be from the thousands that the Sith killed between trilogies.
Jason has come back to kill for Mommy.Absolutely not. Death Star or nothing.
Oh God! Natural light!Death doesn't exist in the KH universe. Darkness inducing device it is.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youHades. Auron.

One more time: No, death does exist in Kingdom Heart, it is Xehanort's entire motivation in Birth by Sleep. Yes, if it ever came to an adaptation of A New Hope in Kingdom Hearts, I would think that they would definitely change the way the Death Star is utilised in the story. It is not like Kingdom Hearts has ever swayed from making changes to keep a consistent, narrative tone (even if Port Royal was still a mistake).
Check out my YouTube-channel, if you wantI can understand making changes, but if Alderaan was destroyed in a way that would allow it to be restored, I think that would cheapen things a bit.

Oh God! Natural light!Hades: "Dead... Dead is good! And I know just the warrior."
Also, I literally can't think of anything else to describe Vanitas' current state.
This song needs more love.I thought the creation of the Heartless is what caused true death to become impossible?
Or maybe death by old age is the only true death. That's the one Xehanort seemed concerned with, but I can't tell whether it's because it was the only one that counted for anyone or just because it's the one he was actually likely to face.
Though again that raises the question of that being a natural feature of the verse or something caused by the Heartless.
she her hers hOI!!! i'm tempeThen adapt Alderaan out and demonstrate whatever the Death Star can do in Kingdom Hearts (probably destroy a world's heart or something akin to that) with a no-name world or an original world that can be brought back like Radiant Garden or Twilight Town. There are a lot of ways they could write around that particular conundrum, all of which would appear more tonally consistent than complete annihilation on such a big scale.
Check out my YouTube-channel, if you wantBased on that quote Hercules has been killing people offscreen.
That's probably the rule. People can die offscreen.
Like Mufasa.
Just don't show the people on Alderaan being vaporized or liquefied.
In fact, don't show the explosion. Have Sora and Co. show up after that's already happened.

The ruins of the planet does seem like a very Kingdom-hearts esque world to explore.
Where's that one video where Aqua is running along a broken highway somewhere in the empty void of space?
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youWhat ruins? Alderaan wouldn't have any lol.
Well, realistically, a planet wouldn't just disappear after it was destroyed. Those chunks of planet have to go somewhere. I would imagine a planetary graveyard would be a fun map.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youI mean, the comics had a splinter of rock smaller than a finger that Vader describes as the largest piece of what remains of Alderaan.
There's probably dust, but. Not anything big enough to stand on.

Well, the Alderaan chunks might be microscopic dust specks scattered around its corner of the Far-Away Galaxy.
So don't show the destruction of Alderaan, only the aftermath as the Millenium Falcon (with Han, Chewie, Luke, Ben, R2, Threepio, Sora, Donald, and Goofy inside) approaches the empty space it used to occupy, with Leia later telling the party (in classic KH text box-pixel mouth style) about the Sadistic Choice-turned-Morton's Fork that Tarkin presented her with.
Also, Barbossa was shot dead on-screen. Just throwing that out there.

It's possible Disney is trying to focus solely on New Trilogy materials. We may only get Rey, Finn, Poe etc.
Darth Vader showing up as an optional boss would be the most piss-inducingly cool thing.
Especially if he gets to fight Sephiroth.
Say to the others who did not follow through You're still our brothers, and we will fight for youI have a vague memory of the Falcon coming out of hyperspace into what they thought was an asteroid field, but turned out to be Alderaan's remains.
Am I imagining this?
Oh God! Natural light!...Okay, I forget exactly how Vader described it in the comic.
It was in a box.
But what I remember is that while we see the falcon shaking, we don't really see how big the pieces are. More like micrometeors.

Well, you're the scientist here.
I guess for me, it's planet-destroying or bust. You can't mess with the Death Star, it's iconic!
Oh God! Natural light! The Kingdom Hearts series isn't shy about changing the source when it's convenient for the plot of the game.
Shan Yu's heartless horde comes to mind.

I still think a Darth Vader bonus boss and lightsaber keyblade is as car as they should go with Star Wars. Having said that Stormtrooper Heartless would be adorable.
