Right, I myself wouldn’t be surprised if she has unreleased E-C Tech prototypes.
She had a cleaning robot that was basically an anti-dirt Dalek years ago. Nowadays she may as well have a nanite swarm scrubbing the place.
TIL Jeph doesn't keep character model sheets

I assure you, I'm a completely trustworthy person. Now I'm wondering about the actual specifics of French stereotypes of the Dutch, and vice versa.

♭What.Well, that explains why her arms have European sockets. Her family must have moved to the States later. Kind of a quick turnaround for her, to have American citizenship and be living in Canada the past two years, since she was seventeen. But then, I have no idea what the naturalization process is like for minors.

Interestingly, Liz seems to speak to her dad in English, unless that was a case of Translation Convention.
Just a person. He/him.Seeing as a huge majority of Dutch people speak English, it wouldn't be that surprising. Maybe Liz is just used to communicating in English.
Hitokiri in the streets, daishouri in the sheets.Seems to be confirmed by a Dutch Redditor:
Hmm, that’s a bit sad, really. Another language dying out in favor of English, and not a small one, either.
Also from that Reddit thread, we could have guessed this just by googling her name, since “Appelboom” (apparently they slightly Anglicized the spelling) is a common Dutch surname that just means “apple tree.”
It's also the name of a Dutch pen-maker, which might be where Jeph encountered the name.
Winslow and Ayo have something in common.
I assure you, I'm a completely trustworthy person.Do not squeeze the birds.
Just as an FYI, given that half the cast of this webcomic qualifies for the new trope Hired on the Spot, I'd appreciate it if people take a look over the added entries.
Oh man, I am LOVING this character dynamic.
Describing pigeons as if they were fruit just reminds me that domesticated pigeon meat — ie squab — is a delicacy. I've had it before, it's pretty good.
Disgusted, but not surprisedEverything on the page looks fine.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.Isn’t it Emily who got hired without even asking for the job? Well, it’s probably both.
They both did. Penelope practically got press ganged into the job.
Bigotry will NEVER be welcome on TV Tropes.Oh right. Well, I added Emily, anyway, and some quotes. This seems like a trope that lends itself to fun quotes; after Tai's first line I had to stop myself from adding the subsequent exchange between Marten and Tai because it's not relevant.
Marten: What? Oh, librarian humor.
Tai: Dewey decimal system? Do we ever!

Wasn't Ayo kind of also hired on the spot? I mean she did at least show up for an interview, when they were offering interviews.
So far the series has been pretty good about keeping the sci-fi stuff limited to A.I. originating from human research and development. No alien stuff yet.
