Vivi I could see, but Zack seems like he'd be pretty redundant with Cloud.

It depends on what Cycle the game is set in. If it's early like I was thinking this could be a time before Cloud arrived.

I personally think dropping the Cycle of Battle storyline would be for the best, but retaining Cid of the Lufaine and Cosmos as Big Good characters would be the better idea.

Why exactly do you want it dropped?

Besides Square Enix is good at making characters who have similar mechanics fight completely different. Zack has enough unique attacks from his own game to support a unique movelist if they so chose to make him I think, his most shared attacks are Octaslash and Meteor Shots but those could be as different as Terra's Blizzard and Kefka's.

The 13th Cycle was the last one, so every other game in the Cycle would have to be a prequel- In other words, there's nowhere left for the plot to go. A sequel would allow for new ideas to be explored outside that particular conflict.

I agree that they should branch out a bit but I'd still like to see the first battle before they do that.

Whereas I can't see what would be different from either of the two cycles we've already seen.

Like I said, I don't want to totally drop the Dissidia-original elements, but rather, see how they work outside the Cycle.

... So, supposing Ashe and/or Basch were included in the game and used Greatswords and Spears, respectively, do you think Vaan could tolerate swapping those weapons out for Ninja Swords and Poles, respectively? The moves would remain functionally identical, of course.

I'd be fine with that, although I think it would be fine if Ashe just used the Treaty Blade and avoided switching out the Claymore/Tournesol for Vaan, if only for his awesome Victory Pose to stay in.

I could see him doing the Pole victory animation instead, though, and that's pretty cool, too.

Ooooh, your right about that. Its to bad Poles pretty much got retired in XII when Great Swords came in cuz they where way cool.

What would Ashe's HP Attacks be you think? Concurrences like Vaan? Or maybe Technicks or Magick like Soul Eater and Scathe.

I was thinking Magicks, for the most part, whereas Basche would get Technicks.

I also envision Ashe using Handbombs and Basche using Bows, as ranged options for some attacks.

Of course if all else fails she can use Magick as her ranged attacks too.

I would love if Balthier got to join in too but I just really like XII's cast in general.

Sadly I know not how to do that.

So! Who are the characters that everyone see's as the realistic option to be in the next game should their game be added?

A little hard to say!

I still hold out hope that the new cast members can be sourced from the early games- Aside from Kain and Gilgamesh, one of which is from a game that just keeps getting remade and the other is more of a whole-series rep and secret besides.

I'd like Xande from III (because lord knows he could use some more face time).

From VI?

Leo would be cool, if you could work out moves other than Shock.
Celes would be story-appropriate.
Edgar and Cyan lend themselves to unique movesets.
Gau just makes me grin with thinking how he might be implemented.

IX needs to add Vivi.

I have a message from another time...

Yeah, I'd say Xande is definitely the most likely choice for a new character representing III. There aren't a whole lot of notable options there anyway. Vivi would probably be the new rep for IX. Vayne seems likely as well, although I could see them adding Ashe or even Balthier instead...I guess it depends on how much they care about the imbalance between the hero and villain sides.

Okay, so I finally got around to getting back on this game and decided to finally crack on with scenario 000. But I'm getting extremely frustrated with not being able to get higher level gear because I don't have the elxirs needed to buy the components (yes, I do need electrum really badly.) Also I'm having trouble remembering exactly which moogle sells what items. So, I need some answers to the following questions:

1) Does the Cornelia moogle stock the higher level elixirs and if so, how do I get them to appear?

2) Which moogles sell KP Bonus and banish/death and how do I get them to restock?

3) How should I set my accessories to give myself the best advantage in any circumstance?

4) Give me a strategy to utterly trounce the Feral Chaos Manikin and Feral Chaos himself (preferably one that involves Squall or Sephiroth.)

Btw, I know how to duplicate items off Friend cards and how to fool the game clock (though limited items arent restocking even when I set the clock back for some reason. is there some trick to it?)

Odd thinking, but what if the breaking of the cycle were to cause a rift in space and time that messes with everything beyond the Final Fantasy worlds? (i.e.: Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger, Mana, Drakengard, Hitman, Tomb Raider, etc...)

[up][up]I believe the Cornelia Moogle sells the higher-ranked Elixirs the day after your special day and the day after that.

And Feral Chaos, be it a result of his AI, his massive size and the smallness of the arena, or a combination of both, is vulnerable to being smacked over and over by a few moves- He just can't dodge Yuna's Mega Flare or Kuja's Ultima, and similar HP attacks usually hit, too, though not quite as certainly.

And, while it's possible I've just been doing it wrong for a while, I don't think Regular and Booster accessories are quite as easily abused as in the first game- Specials give you fairly powerful effects from the get-go.

Yeah I figured out the Cornelia moogle's shop. He stocks Banish/Death and KP bonus on the two days after your bonus day, but he only stocks KP bonus if you've accumulated a certain amount of KP. Same with the higher ranked elixirs. So I just abused the clock and used Banish+ Kp Gambler + Multichain in the Frozen Continent gateway a few times and got enough Hi-Elixir for an Electrum, which I then duplicated using my friend card data. But I've hit another snag in that I don't have an easily abused source of gil to buy the exclusive gear. I've got a single Golden Angel which I equipped on my dummy Gabranth but he hasn't dropped it yet.

Also, it seems you can't fool the game's clock by jumping back a day, as it remembers what days you bought limited items. So I just keep going forwards instead.

I do recall hearing that Feral Chaos cant dodge Kuja's Ultima for shit. Is it pretty foolproof? If so I'll have to draft Kuja into my party for those battles. I've yet to enter Southern Lufenia Gateway because I fear getting stomped by the Manikin too much. I wouldn't have put it off so long, but it's too hard to get the higher level gear using normal methods.

EDIT: So yeah, just watched this video, and I'll definitely be doing that I think. Better level Kuja I guess.

It's not a sure-thing for the first shot, but it's easy, and so long as you keep it up as soon as it finishes animating you'll be hitting him again.

Also, jumping between months can fool the clock going backwards, if that's your cuppa.

So, killed the Feral Chaos Manikin. I have no idea how you'd attempt to do that without exploiting his AI, it's like using a garden hose to defeat the sun. Had to restart once because it's less that Feral Chaos can't dodge Kuja's Ultima, and more that he sometimes gets stuck on the level boundary while doing so and then takes five or six of them to the face before remembering how to dodge properly. And now that he's beaten I get a momentary feeling of happiness that a boss I'd been running from for three years is dead before realising that I still have to beat the real version with three times as much health.

Also, I went back and read the thing about them wanting to do another Dissidia and what we'd like to see in the next game. So here's my two cents worth:

For characters, I'd like to see Seifer, Rinoa, Vincent, Freya, Barthandalus, and Ashe if I had to choose six. But what I really want them to do is just make every party member and villain from every game playable (though this probably couldn't happen as it'd weigh the odds heavily in favour of Cosmos's forces. Unless the game actually portrayed the villains as being as big a threat as they were in their own games.)

Story wise, the only option is to go back to the beginning of the conflict, since we've already seen how it ends and the most significant turning point in the 12th cycle, not to mention a glimpse of what would have happened had Chaos never been defeated. This also makes sense because the first cycle would have had the largest roster of warriors possible in the war, meaning more playable characters.

The only changes I'd like to see are in regards to difficulty, specifically no cheating AI equipment setups, a final boss that is less like trying to knock down a concrete wall with your face, (although a Bonus Boss with Feral Chaos level of difficulty would be acceptable, so long as they don't hide all the endgame equipment in its scenario) and endgame equipment that doesn't require having to abuse item-duplication and all the money in the world to acquire. Also limited items should be nixed, the moogle with the elixirs should sell the elixirs regardless of what day you buy from him.

System wise, the Vita is a failure and releasing the next game on it would be marketing suicide. It would have to be the 3DS. Hell, it'd get me to buy one.

Also, just because it's my personal canon, I think it'd be good if they confirmed the 'Ultimecia is future Rinoa' theory. Yes, I'm aware that theory was shot down by Word of God, but I don't care. Personally I think it makes FFVIII a much more interesting experience playing with it in mind. Also, for a dead theory, Dissidia seems to drop a few hints to it with Ultimecia's exclusive gear. And before anyone feels the need to get riled up about my bringing it up, I'm merely stating my opinion, not trying to start a flame war. They'd never confirm a dead theory anyhow, but I thought I'd mention it for the hell of it. We are after all putting down what we'd like to see if they make a new game.
