While listening to Double's theme in X4, I encountered this comment by one terminalvelociotyhunter2202:
What if, and I'm just spitballing, Double is the ultimate evolution of the classic games' Devil robot family? He splits apart when you use his weakness on him, is made mostly of gel/liquid/non-solid substance, and he even calls one of his attacks "Devil Slash" in some versions (Evil Slash most often b/c of stupid anti-religious localization policies during the time of release).
Someone else named legendxcarrisso made this reply"
That's EXACTLY the point. There's a reason his ACTUAL japanese name is "Jello Man". Also the fact in the Japanese version of the game, his EVIL SLASH is actually called DEVIL SLASH. Also if you consider one of his attacks (Split Attack Cutters) uses the exact same text as the Devil Split Attack... yeah. This abomination was in-fact an evolution of a Devil.
Is this a good theory, or was it just overthinking what may be a mere Continuity Nod?

I'm not over how silly Jello Man sounds.
The Protomen enhanced my life. Not the first time a Mega Man character had a silly sounding name. Take Hard Man, for example!
"That we continue to persist at all is a testament to our faith in one another."where the hell did "Jello Man is Double's ACTUAL japanese name" come from?
Apparently, the official soundtrack for Double's theme in Mega Man X4 refers to him as "Double Jello Man".
The Protomen enhanced my life.I could see Double as a derivation of the devils, possibly even ultimate. I'd propose that the Black Devil from X5 is more powerful than him in combat, but less advanced.
I've looked up the Mega Man X soundtracks, and the first six games got collected into one soundtrack apparently back in the day, and the track listing just says "DOUBLE" here: https://vgmdb.net/album/256
That Black Devil could be a Devil made directly by Dr. Wily using 20XX tech.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. On calling Double Jello Man, personally, I only assumed that was a Fan Nickname because of the purple fluid running across Slim Double's body.
Idly: how would it be if Isoc turned out to be not Wily Reborn, but an executor - the agent that Wily built specially to carry his plans beyond the grave. Possibly, Isoc would argue that holo-Light is the same sort of thing, but lying about it.
"But that's only fitting. Light was more like Wily than he'd ever admit, so why should the same not be true of their executors?"
That would be more akin to having henchmen still carrying out orders rather than something like the Light holograms.
As far as we know, Dr. Wily exists through the Maverick virus.
Somehow.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.and It helps that the one who called Zero the strongest robot was marked as "??", thus it's easy to assume Wily and Isoc are separate characters and that the former only possessed the latter to encourage Zero to defeat Sigma.

Are the voices in JP different tho?
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult.No. They're both Takeshi Aono. Doesn't hurt the theory as Aono also voiced Ground Scaravich in the same game.
Yeah, my notion was that Isoc would be arguing that the Light holograms are just an artificial henchman that Light created, rather than "actually" being Dr. Light in any sense. With a side of thinking that Light was a giant hypocrite who's only pretending to be good, (because evil does not comprehend good), so it makes sense that the henchman is lying about his true nature, too.
From a certain point of view, brain uploading into a hologram makes a copy, not the original person. So Wily henchman could have some basis to argue this
Forever liveblogging the AvengersGranted, in this theory, Isoc would be a separate albeit loyal individual to Wily, while the Light holograms just act like Light and don’t directly affect the plot aside from upgrading X and at one point repairing him.

I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. There's a possibility that rather than truly surviving to the X series, the Light and Wily that show up behind the scenes are AI clones of their consciousness they set up beforehand. The concept of uploading your consciousness isn't really explored in too much detail until Zero. Though I bet you only Wily would refuse to accept that.
Wily having an AI doppelganger makes the most sense to me. Particularly if he's using it to body hop.
Reminds me of the discussion on if Sigma truly does come back from defeat or if it's just duplicate program with all the exact memories up until the point of death.
Heck, there's even an argument that Sigma died the moment the virus infected him, and the virus thinks it's Sigma.
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. On that note: If X9 ever sees the light of day, I hope they give us an actual new antagonist and stick with it, instead of doing a Hijacked by Ganon at the last second. We need brand new villains instead of the exact same foe again and again.
"That we continue to persist at all is a testament to our faith in one another."Gate: “It’s me, X! I’m back again! Just kidding, I’m being puppeted by Dynamo!”
X: “Never would have guessed Dynamo for endboss material. … I will enjoy kicking his ass though”
Forever liveblogging the AvengersThen it turns out, the real mastermind was CRORQ all along!
I'll teach you a lesson about just how cruel the world can be. That's my job, as an adult. You just made that up.
I feel like Gate would have this belief unironically but without wanting genocide.
It depends on if you want him to be a navigator before X6 or after though. I feel post, he'd just keep his passive aggressive thoughts to himself.
Granted, I think in either case, he'd also have low opinions on less advanced reploids.
And he would be the second racist navigator the maverick hunters hired in this hypothetical scenario.
Can anyone guess who the first is?
