The Eastern fishing businesses have been boned for decades. This is not news. Hell, this was released 19 years ago. The cod fishery died in the 70s and 80s due to overfishing, and to the best of my knowledge Atlantic salmon isn't far behind.

Right now, Newfoundland lives on oil money, while Halifax keeps Nova Scotia alive by virtue of being a massive mainland port. New Brunswick and PEI have been boned for years - hell, PEI is still most known throughout the rest of Canada for growing goddamn potatoes.

@Parable: The remaining 1% are special cases with a few particular friends.

Huh. I just realised, I really know nothing about PEI except that they grow a lot of potatoes, and that you can walk across the island in the course of a day.

Methinks I should visit it whenever I finally get out to that coast.

I'm thinking of writing a play about life with my autistic little brother. It may not be as good as the plays my friends write, but it would definitely have more substance than most of them. Each year my theatre does a project where the kids get to write and direct plays, and most of the plays picked for presentation this year were either about mass murder or people spontaneously becoming gay.

Talking to the girls who's interested in me, while brooding over the girl who I'm interested in.

Such is life.

This is what exactly sums up my feeling about fandom nowadays. Sigh, kids. Sex, violence and fetishizing the third sex is all they can think of, and what otherwise could be a potential for good talent is wasted on this.

There are definitely enough moments which could be strung into a coherent drama. From 'Poor Dad. He seems rather dead' to "Mommy and Sister are right. You belong in heaven, Cookie."

In fact, I'd like to see those perky little bastards at the theatre tear up a bit.

Today in lab we put metallic salts in fire to see what pretty colors they burned. Always funb. Still hate 25 miles of wet night driving though.

Surgery isn't till later this month. I suddenly have a week to do stuff.
