How does the timeline even work for that, anyways? How old are the cast in DMC 4?

but HOW?

[up]About, late twenties or early thirties? God, I need to find a good chart for this.

FWIW, there are no definite numbers given for how much time passed between DMC1 (which canonically takes place at least 10 years after DMC 3) and the sequels that take place after it in the timeline (i.e. DMC2 and DMC4, as opposed to DMC3, in which Dante and Vergil are explicitly 17).

Dante in 1 is similar in age to Cobra who's 29. Interviews on 4 place Dante near forty.

...How? Is that an actual stage or did they manage to crack it?

On the bright side, at least they didn't confirm DmC2. I'm probably in the minority when I say I liked it for what it is after I was able to pretend it wasn't the real Dante.

[up][up]I was disappointed when I read that. I thought for sure that would be in development...

At least RE is seemingly getting redeemed.

Let's hope that we don't get a Sanic redemption and fall plotline going.

Doesn't make sense to pretend when Dm C Dante was never pushed as being the same guy from 3 & 4(excluded 1 for a reason).

I thought the entire game was being pushed as another prequel early on, but after fan complaints, it got shunted into an alternate universe. I know there was some major confusion over the canon status of DmC for a while during its development, but I'm not quite sure on the specifics.

[up][up] You thought right! It's just on the long list of reasons why it was shit. [lol]

That game's ultimate problem is that it was pushed as a Devil May Cry game. Otherwise I feel it's just an average game at best that would probably have been forgotten.

[up][up] If you say Ninja Gaiden is only better than Devil May Cry 2 or DmC, then it's OK.

Ninja Gaiden is good, no doubt about that. Really responsive controls and a long list of interesting combos, alongside some stellar bosses and tough but fair difficulty.

However, it still pales in comparison to the Devil May Cry series' style, action, and overall combat system imo. Really, the only one that comes close to DMC is the Bayonetta series, and even that still falls short, albeit extremely close.

Nah, I still find Bayonetta to be better as awhile, especially the second game. Controls are mush more responsive and smooth, not anywhere near as stiff as Devil May cry can be, IMO.

Haven't played Bayo 2, but the first one really didn't impress me.

[up][up] seriously, just get the second one. Aside from the final boss. It's better in every conceivable way.

I have to say that I've recently changed my opinion. I much prefer Bayonetta to DMC. Everything's really fast and vibrant, the weapons are fun and easy to understand, the Torture Attacks and Witch Time add some great variety to it, and the platforming isn't a huge pain in the ass. The first game is marred by the all of the insta-death QTEs and the really long and boring sudden gameplay changes though (although the one in the Epilogue is perfect, I think). I haven't played Bayo 2 so I still can't comment on that.

I still greatly prefer the combos and weapons in DMC, though. While the weapons in Bayo are fun and easy to understand, there's almost never any real reason for me to switch from Shuraba and Lt. Col. Killgore while I only use two or three basic combos and can get Pure Platinum easily provided I don't get hit. In DMC, however, each weapon and combo is much more distinct and there's a lot more value in not only switching weapons but memorizing the inputs for all of the combos and what they do. DMC actually lowering your score for using the same move over and over again also helps.

Also, Bayonetta can drive up walls because she has magic. Dante can drive up walls because fuck you, he's Dante. That makes him cooler in my book.

Kinda mixed message there. But the differentiation between weapons is one of my greatest spots of preference of DMC over Bayo. I don't like redundancy.
