I liked Blaine until they made him a regular. They he picked up all of that New Directions angst from everybody else.

What I noticed about Glee was that New Directions was always fighting with itself when it didn't need to.

And when you put in serious topics like bullying and prejudice, it kind of undermined the point when the kids would end up doing that to each other, not just for the sake of comedy.

If only they'd been like Steven Universe and did the whole hypocrisy and infighting and flawed characters in in a way that made sense in-character and thematically...

Also, if only there had been more original songs...

I liked Blaine until he moved schools to be with his boyfriend. Idiot.

Once he moved to Mc Kinley, he picked up A LOT of stereotypically gay stereotypes and he lost all interest for me. He quickly became bitchy Kurt 2.0 when he started as this very understanding and more mature (compared to the rest of Glee) character.

You make a very good point.

Also, massively undersized polos, bowties that don't combine well with the rest of his clothing, and the whole thing where he started off as a mentor to Kurt and somehow by some kind of time magic morphed into his junior.

He just became a big... I have a lot of words that I could use but I don't think they'd be apprecieated on this site. And this is coming from someone who uses 'fuck' very frequently.

He used to be so manly and assertive and I liked that. He could be subtle about his issues.

But then he became an anxiety mess and obessed with clothing and a CRAP TON of Tropes that were related to Kurt.

So has this show actually stopped being run yet? I've not paid attention to this thread for a while.

It has died a few months ago. So much promise...

Someone needs to try again, but better this time. With a management that isn't morally bankrupt.

And another thing - If in the pilot episode, Mercedes told Mr. Schuester off for making her sing backup during one song that was a casual group performance, why would she tolerate giving rachel, who I must stress, everyone except finn hated at the time, all the female solos in the journey medley at regionals? Yeah, I know Santana got those three lines in Don't Stop Believing. There's no f-ing way they just broke Mercedes' spirit or she decided singing backup for Rachel was okay.

Also, it may just be the 240p video I'm watching, or I could just be bad at spotting it, but it appears to me that during "Faithfully" Finn is taking chest breaths. Any show choir teacher worth the air molecules he's vibrating would stamp that out on the first day, you gotta go from the diaphragm or you will screw up your voice (just listen to Liam Gallagher live if you don't believe me).

It just totally ruins what otherwise would have been an amazing, fist-pumping performance that they gave The Scrappy all the solos because of the Character Shilling she has experienced over the series.

I wouldn't even mind it if they just gave them "Faithfully", that's obviously more about Rachel/Finn than about the performance (they did good on faithfully, no denying that). But no, they gave them all of the solos, making for a monotonous, repetitive performance. Still worth listening to, but What Could Have Been.

EDIT: He's definitely taking chest breaths. It's making the sound and his shoulders raise noticeably. I'm amazed the people in charge of the singing aspect of the show didn't tell Corey Monteith (god rest him) about that.

It might be the difference between recording the songs in a studio and syncing them when acting on stage. Glee was also in its infancy at that point.

I don't know if Finn was meant to be the best singer, and definitely not the best dancer. It was more about being the school hero and doing something that was allegedly for geeks and gays.

Well eventually all the guys were football players and most of the girls were cheerleaders.

And only about a third of the first group ever made out with somebody of the same sex.

I'm strangely personally offended by this, I feel angry and betrayed for some reason.

But a weird thought creeps in.

I wonder what the writers would have made of that, had the show still been on.

Those people had no shame, remember?

What people, the creator, the writers, or the actors?

Well since Puck was always a troublemaker he probably would have been written as getting arrested too, or suspended, or expelled. Depending on how long Mark was in jail. But they probably wouldn't have mentioned the real reason.

I had no idea that the guy was that old. Ah well, he's got jail time in his immediate future.

(just got the thread watch update)

This wiki's page says that when Puck was in juvie at the start of season 2, it is because Mark was battling charges that he raped a girl and refused to wear a condom, so, I guess it did happen (since that was added in 2014, too)

If only there were still a show like Glee around, so that they could Hamilton it up.

I can easily see Darren Criss playing Hamilton. Mr Schue playing Washington.

And Jonathan Groff as King George, of course. "You'll be back, soon you'll see, you'll remember you belong to me..."

I was watching this video

And a thought just struck me today.

"Cheerleaders are dancers/singers that have gone [REDACTED]". A conflict between a cheerleading club and a show choir strikes me as a case of Naricssim of Minor Differences at best. The overlap between their skillsets is extreme. They put emphasis on different things, but the fundamental purpose (heighten the emotions of an audience) and the means (tightly choreographed and sung routines) are roughly the same, and it's much easier to see how cheerleaders may benefit from attending the Glee club than, say, football players. And vice-versa.

Naya Rivera (Santana) was found dead today. On the anniversary of Cory's death too. All just messed up.
