Sounds like he's better off without her. And honestly, with the lifestyle Watson is currently living, he really can't blame anyone else if his dating doesn't work out.
Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.So that CBS remake - Watson is to be played by a woman.
Is America not ready for rampant upper-middle-class homoerotic tension or is that just cynical of me?
And let us pray that come it may (As come it will for a' that)If they make Watson a girl, dammit, they need to make Sherlock a girl!
So that there is still homoerotic tension between them, duh.
^^ nope they are only fine with teenage boys homoeroticism.
Untitled Power Rangers StoryWhy does there need to be homoerotic tension, though?
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.Because I like it, and this is Sherlock Holmes.
@wack'd: cuz it's always been there mate.
Untitled Power Rangers StoryEither Watson or Holmes being a woman is a pretty old theory, though the choice here does surprise me. But hey, if Harry can be female in Sherlock...
"Doctor Who means never having to say you're kidding." - BocajI never picked up the homoerotic tension.
Lucy Liu?
What the effing eff?
It's not over. Not yet.I think the thing that annoys me most about this is that it implies that they're planning to have romantic tension between Watson and Holmes.
It's not just that American viewers can't handle homoerotic tension; apparently they can't handle asexuality.
The Revolution Will Not Be TropeableHow can someone have homoerotic tension when they're asexual? It'd be entirely one-sided, wouldn't it?
Maybe you'd be less disappointed if you stopped expecting things to be Carmen Sandiego movies.I'm not a huge fan of the constant "Holmes and Watson are totally gay for each other" mindset on the Internet, but I did find their interactions in this show absolutely fun and at times very awkwardly endearing. I think this show struck a good balance, and I like the depiction of Holmes as asexual since that's how he tends to come across in the books.
So making Watson a woman is...uh...not the best idea I've ever heard. It seems like it's just an excuse for MOAR SEXUAL TENSION WOOO.
^^Holmes could be asexual but not aromantic? The term "homoerotic" doesn't really fit in this case, but there's not really a better word.
@Medicus: One person's strong, platonic male friendship is another's homoeroticism. I vastly prefer Holmes to be asexual, but I can see how others could come to the conclusion that he's gay (or Watsonsexual).
"Doctor Who means never having to say you're kidding." - BocajWatsexual has a nice ring to it, but it sounds like it would describe someone who fucks light bulbs.
If homoerotic is the wrong word, perhaps homoromantic?

Fresh-eyed movie blogWhat happened to Irony?
She stopped posting, and stopped coming around IRC. Just faded away like the best forumites do.
Fresh-eyed movie blog... which makes me notice: haven't seen Logan "RORANICUS PONDICUS INVICTUS!" Locksley in a while either.
Change, my dear, and not a moment too soon.Just saw Reichenbach Falls last night.
It can't be true, it's not fair
hashtagsarestupidWhat can't be true?

... unless it turns out to be ghost or a figment of john's imagination. Which would be a epic dick move on the part of Steven Moffat but not something would put past him.

When you put it like that, it actually is pretty disappointing.
It's not over. Not yet.
