Time will tell. I wonder how my friend would react, considering he likes it when Jin bullies her.
Well he's one of the main characters and also one of the most unpleasant, which kinda makes him stand out. Come on, him and Ragna never settled their issues, of course Jin is still giddy about killing him, now how it ends remains to be seen.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Yea, I know. I just hope its not more of the same stuff we've seen in CP? CP made their relationship into more of a typical sibling quarrel(as Mori worded it), I kinda miss when it felt more serious.
If anything, the fact that their antagonism was dialed down to mild bickering shows they've grown at least. With Ragna's situation, I wonder how Jin is gonna feel about it...or he just won't care that much.
Probably the latter, he's a dick like that.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Jin still loves Ragna, but it's not as apparent in the English version lol.
It seems like the localization team has it out for particular characters tbh.
I wouldn't say Jin is that different between regions; like he definitely sounds more childish around Ragna as opposed to out of his mind.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Probably helps (or doesn't) that Kakihara's voice is about an octave higher than Vincent's.
Heart of StoneIt's not just tone though. They outright change lines, or tweak them in a way meaning is lost. I swear I remember Jin sincerely apologizing at one part, but then in English he just says "whatever".
Another one that's minor, but I remember them changing a line that made him react to Tsubaki when he wasn't originally lol. If I replayed it I could find a lot more(I'm pretty nit-picky).

Well can you name any other instances? I'm curious to what changes wree made.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Sorry in advance(and for my obvious bias), this post will probably be all over the place. Also I'd need to replay to find more of the translations that are straight up wrong, so everything here is just off the top of my head.
Well the part where they changed Jin's apology is the most.....odd one to me still(if I'm even remembering right). Oh and of course the classic "My body is ready" thing.
Other ones I remember are the things like Makoto's "squirrel power", or that line about her "naughty bits" never happened lol. I saw someone else who's 100% fluent(unlike me...) getting angry at this stuff too, so at least I know I'm not alone.
And I've said this before, but Kokonoe, Ragna and such get a boost in personality because they have more insults.
Oh and I feel like Jin and Tsubaki's relationship was lost in translation. It was a bad move to remove that she addresses Jin as "nii-sama". Also the promise they made in the original was a Pinky Swear, and not the "cross my heart" thing. Which is funny, because CS translated the punishment for breaking a promise as giving the other their soul, then CP came around and made it something else entirely.
Then of course during their fight in CP, he doesn't say that he's like a brother to her, but rather that he's her "nii-sama", basically another reference to the promise which was lost in English.
And if you go to Dustloop, I'm sure you saw the "mentor" mistranslation for Taro.
There's so much though. When I play through again I'll definitely take notes because it's pretty constant. Little details add up to make inconsistencies.
Its actually pretty cool that you notice these details, Marona.
I'm quite confident in my shitposting you knowThat really can't be helped tho, a lot of Japanese phrases and customs just go over our head. Like how would you even translate something like "Nii-sama" to something makes sense in English?
Its not just about changing the meaning, but it also has to make sense. Its kinda like how they had honorifics in Persona 4's dub, which always bugged the shit out of me.
But I wonder what else was changed between translations, since CT actually.

A lazy millennial who's good at what he does. Thanks, there's a whooole lot, but I just wanna post the ones I'm pretty sure about.
Indeed. Still, their relationship would be confusing if you played exclusively in English. "Oh hey I guess Jin's off the save his girlfr-OH wait he said he's a brother to her" Which I saw happen to a couple people lol. It's apparent Tsubaki see's him as a brother first and foremost, if you don't hear her calling him as such it would seem like that line of Jin's comes out of nowhere. Also there's an easy to miss line in Continuum Shift that confirms she see's him as a brother as well. I think Jin just goes along with what she wants lol.
Oh, and yeah I recall the people who handled CT and CS are different from who's doing it now? I recall the initial team embellishing a lot of thoughts and descriptions, while the new ones add a lot of memes lol.
Its arguably a Relationship Writing Fumble, but then Mori goes on to sorta confirm Tsubaki's feelings for Jin are romantic as well as familial....so....incest strikes again lol.
Yea, Aksys did the translations for every game until Continuum Shift Extend, then Arcsys decided to outsource to another company and their quality has been...questionable at best.
Hilariously, I heard Arcsys went back to Aksys for Chronophantasma Extend sooo.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.I wouldn't call it that, yeah i believe their relationship is familial, but there's no denying that it's also built on incest....stuff. I feel like the English changed the incestuous aspect of them which just made it confusing lol. I mean the game paints her feelings for him as a brother, but hey this is Blazblue.
Oh boy, now I'm remembering when they did a parody with Jin and Tsubaki on bururaji with that one incest show, I can't remember the name of it lol. Damn u Mori.
Wait, they went back?? As in the people who did CT and CS did all the new content for Extend? I might watch it then lol.
Well ya know, we're not exactly too keen on incest over here.
While I understand the annoyance of changing the meaning of things from the original, I feel like sometimes liberties need to be taken in order for a product to sell.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.A lot of those examples seem like spicing up the script rather than actual mistranslations.
I get that, but then why keep the gross Ragna/Jin/Nu jokes? I dunno.
Yup, I know there's actual mistakes somewhere, but those were just the ones off the top of my head like I said.
Because they're jokes :V
Jin & Tsubaki's relationship is played rather seriously by comparison.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Despite Nu pretty much being a copy of Saya, I never really saw it as incestual. Maybe because this clone has red eyes, an eyepatch, silver hair, and is physically much older than the Saya Ragna has memories of.
Borderline rape jokes though? Which I honestly find more offensive. At least Jin & Tsubaki are mutually pleasant with each other and aren't actually related.
Why, I recall meeting a couple of people new to BB that started with CP, and they were so creeped out by the episode of Teach Me Ms. Litchi with Jin and Ragna that they didn't want to continue the story lol.
But he still see's the face of his sister when he encounter's her, right? (CT I think)
Tbh talking about all this reminded me why I hate Mori so much lol.
I can see why this turns some people off, but I'm kinda ashamed to admit that I'm both desensitized and find it somewhat funny due to Refuge in Audacity.
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.Yeah I've kinda been desensitized too, but THAT episode, gosh golly.
All I know is a wanna fight Mori and from what I saw of him on a stream one time I could probably take him lol.
"You'ze a bitch >:V"
A lazy millennial who's good at what he does.We interrupt this program for a special announcement!
Famitsu is holding a poll on which colors will be in CF. From CT to CP, you can vote 3 colors per character to come back to the game! So of you want your favorite alts, now's your chance~
I dunno, people may not want to get involved, but I doubt anyone would blame or look down upon a victim who defends themselves.
Especially in a work of fiction, it would be seen as a good thing if Noel calls Jin out in the right situation. I mean we have multiple staff members acknowledging Jin's terrible behavior and making jabs at him, pretty sure the audience is supposed to want him to be destroyed lol.
My guess it's either gonna be Noel grows a backbone in a prominent moment, or Jin slips up in front of Tsubaki and suffers the consequences lol.
Jin is talked about a lot now huh(I'm repeating myself at this point), I pray CF doesn't wreck his character. From the trailer it looks like the some old Ragna rivalry.
Oh yeah, what's this about voting for old color palettes? Can we even vote?
