Clock Tower Finale (no, it doesn't mean what you think it does) is a very common trope, but it has almost no examples and is barely used anywhere. It seems very likely that this is partially due to its unintuitive name, which references the ending to Back To The Future without any real indication of what it's focusing on in there (aside from, well, the clock tower; but this trope has nothing to do with clock towers.)

I agree that this should be renamed, perhaps to something that makes more to remark time as a foe in the style of, say, Time Bomb Finale.

If by its definition this trope has a sort-of-counterpart Beginning Trope, the better.

Isn't it just a Race Against Time? Or I guess a subtrope when the ending is a Race Against Time.

Wow, I thought it mea... Oh, hell, you know exactly what I thought it meant. Oh, but that's okay, because the last line says to not confuse it with what I thought it meant, so that fixes everything, right?

What does a Clock Tower even have to do with the trope?

Because of Back To The Future, obviously.

(No, really.)

Race Against Time describes this page as being a subtrope. In my opinion, this is pretty much just the regular trope.

Bumping because I think this is something we should do something about (especially if the wick count is as bad as the OP says).

Looks to me like this trope should simply be cut, with examples folded into Race Against Time.

I made a page action crowner here. Feel free to edit it, add options, and point out any mistakes I may have made.

I felt like it was worth bumping this thread because I agree that the clock tower part of the name does not necessarily tell what the trope is about and the trope itself has not been used very much so far. I hope it was okay that I did that.

Is Race Against Time going to be generalised to fit the moved examples?

At the moment the text focuses exclusively on a race against a villain's plans coming to fruition rather than a general race against time.

I edited Race Against the Clock's description in order to broaden it a bit to fit the Clock Tower Finale examples. It still might need some work though.

I also fixed the wicks, moved examples that were on the Clock Tower Finale main page, and made Clock Tower Finale a redirect for Race Against the Clock. If other people want to just cut it instead (rather than keep it as a redirect), I would be open to that as well.

I was wondering about this the other day, partly because "Race Against the Clock" implies something of a literal timer, while "Race Against Time" is a pre-existing term.
