The definition of "omnipotent" in its weakest sense is "nothing is stronger in any way than an omnipotent being." Vishnu doesn't qualify for that, because if I remember correctly there's that whole cycle thing in Hinduism where the three major gods (Vishnu, Shiva, and Brahma (? I believe that's the third one)) essentially continually get the upper hand over the others. The Magic Gods we've seen also don't fit that definition, seeing as they can be beaten. Yes, they're all up there at around Super Weight 5 or 6, but that's not the same thing as being God.
If a series is gonna be nitpicky about making magic "accurate" with regards to the mythology it's based on, it better get that mythology right, is all I'm saying.
i think the best way to confirm the existence of a certain deity is via something like Angel Fall.you summon the deity's subordinate.
Secret SignatureNo, the weakest definition is that you can do anything. It says nothing about whether or not anyone else is also omnipotent, although that introduces its own logical contradictions. Nothing more than the boring old "create a stone so heavy it is unable to be lifted" contradiction though.
That is actually a valid definition of omnipotence in Western theology/philosophy. I was a tad exaggerated, but that's what happens when you just give a quick and dirty simplification in one sentence. http://plato.stanford.edu/entries/omnipotence/
And as you've already noted, omnipotence might not explicitly say there can only be one omnipotent being, but contradictions arise if there is more than one. If someone is capable of being opposed by some entity or force, then they cannot be omnipotent because they can't perform the action being opposed.
A relevant quote from that SEP article:
And I like to think To Aru verse has a Demiourgós as its creator.
Not to mention that apparently some sects disagree about who the primary deity of that trinity is?
It's not really that analogous to the idea of the Christian trinity.
So, more announcements.
5. Kamachi-themed Ichiban Kuji Promotion - Banpresto announces a Kamachi 10th anniversary version of their Ichiban Kuji lottery. Further information will be announced on Winter 2014.
6. Kamachiverse Super Crossover! - Characters from the stories penned by Kamachi will meet in a crossover light novel tentatively titled A Certain Magical Heavy Zashiki-Warashi Deals With a Simple Killer Princess' Marriage Circumstances (とある魔術のへヴィー座敷童が簡単な殺人妃の婚活事情 Toaru Majutsu no Hevi Zashiki-warashi ga Kantan na Satsujinhi no Konkatsu Jijou?). More details will be released on the Winter 2014 issue of the special Kamachi Kazuma Magazine to be published by Dengeki Bunko Magazine.
Also not sure if this was already posted, but there's also going to be a Durarara crossover. Narita and Kamachi are apparently buddies, so I guess it makes sense. Also there's a Web Novel side story from Intellectual Village coming out.
This is probably why Railgun is on hiatus for 3 months. I think Kamachi might have finally hit the physical limitations of time as to how much he can write.

This is possible? I'm confused.
>Durarara!! crossover
So, a little info out on the next arc. Should be fairly short, I think Touma was only in Italy for a day.
That title can mean anything. If I had to guess, it's either going to be Misaki looking for the clone of Dolly, or another "plight of the level 0s" arc.

I doubt we'll get payoff for Dolly and Full Tuning that quickly.
I don't know, Railgun is alot more A->B than Index is with this kind of stuff, where you can't really guess when some really old plot point will spring back up out of nowhere.
Level Upper directly foreshadowed straight into Sisters, which led straight into Scary Biri arc. Though if this arc is only a few chapters long that'd be different probably.

I don't doubt that we'll get payoff quicker than in Index since you never get payoff at all in Index, but Full Tuning has been one of those things held just out of reach for a long time now.
I still want to see Misuzu's reaction to having ten thousand children now.
Have we seen Tabikake's? He's an information broker, so there's no way he doesn't know, but I don't think he mentioned it to Mikoto or even confirmed it in any real way.
He should know, but I doubt he does. He's never mentioned it, but then again I can only remember three of his appearances.
He is at least aware of their existence. He confronts Aleister about it in one of the second side story novel.
The Railgun manga is written by someone other than Kamachi right? Who?
I'm pretty sure it's also written by Kamachi.
Hm. That's what Wikipedia says, but I could have sworn someone said it had a different writer, which I believed since Railgun is actually good.
Or, just, less magic bullshit and a more coherent plot that probably wasn't made up entirely on the fly.
I guess. And it's hard to infodump in a manga.
By the way, is Misaki's assistant that guy that was a supervisor or whatever for the Level 6 Shift program with Accelerator?
Edit: Guess so.

The anime's written by someone else, though it has Kamachi's approval. For example, you'll note that we see that photobooth picture of Haru'e and the gang in the manga, even though the Poltergeist arc was anime-exclusive.
Is it actually written by someone else, though? I was under the impression that Kamachi did everything.
I thought he just gave the stamp of approval for the filler crap rather than actually writing it.
Othinus was omnipotent, Ollerus implied this was standard for Magic Gods, and there is absolutely no point in discussing "I'm more omnipotent that you" power levels because they make no difference whatsoever to the narrative.
