ABC May Expand Radio Properties

DENVER - Anonymous User has expressed interest in getting ABC involved in radio, in a greater capacity.
"Radio may be an old medium, but it's important", he says. "Talk radio is extremely profitable and important. Look at Clear Channel. Also, we can do easy cross-promotion with other properties in the ABC stable."
He wants to reacquire the ABC Radio properties from Citadel Broadcasting, who purchased them in 2007. They included a news and information network, an oldies music network, and radio stations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Dallas-Fort Worth, Atlanta, Washington, D.C., Detroit, and Minneapolis-St. Paul. ABC presently owns five radio stations, in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, and Pittsburgh, all carrying the ESPN Radio network.
"Look at CBS. They own two television networks, one highly-rated and the other in the gutter, but a crapload of radio stations. Yeah, they're selling some of them, but they still probably make a killing. Yeah, several of them are all-news and not news-talk, but that's their bread-and-butter, not ours." he says.
