Oh, don't worry about that. The Eldar will get their squad sizes reduced. Might also make their units more expensive.

In any case, I'm planning on making tier-advancing upgrades extremely expensive and slow to research in order to give early-game units more time to shine.

The one nerf I did in this regard is to make Defilers require an upgraded Chaos HQ. Of course, the only way to build Defilers is to make a Machine Pit, and making a Machine Pit requires an upgraded HQ anyway... but the Defiler itself doesn't. So when the AI attacks a territory in the campaign and gets a free Machine Pit, it can instantly start building Defilers and bumrush the player's nearest Listening Post right at the start of the mission before the player can get anti-vehicle counters on site. And that's if the player is defending; if the player is attacking and thus has no pre-built base, the AI having access to Defilers right from the start means that it can rush an IG player right off the map with zero effort.

So this change does not affect the player and skirmish AIs whatsoever, it only affects the campaign AI.

you know... the game seems instant on giving the Guard ever disadvantage out there... until they get THE BANEBLADE that is, just remove the unit production buff for the Eldar, that is stupidly OP

Probably, because this buff is insane.

just remove the damn buff, make it so, oh I don't know, Eldar near it don't loose moral, something manageable!

I'd preferably make it so that the Avatar has the same Mass "Oh, Crap!" death debuff on friendly units as the Tau Ethereal, but much more powerful. Like, lose it and your whole army instantly get their morale broken and stay that way for a minute or so. It's a powerful unit, yes, but it's also the Achilles heel of the Eldar faction: if it gets killed in combat, they're utterly screwed. So the Eldar player might want to consider not building it.

Removing the production buff does sound like a good idea, but it takes away the Avatar's primary strength.

The problem with the Avatar's buff is that it encouraged the player to tuck the Avatar away in their base and simply reap the buffs, as it wasn't that strong a unit on its own. Maybe you could remove the production buff, but add some buffs/rebuffs that only work on nearby units.

Hmm... what about applying the Bloodthirster's lose-health-while-not-in-combat effect to the Avatar to encourage not sitting on it?

Also, I'm aware that one of the oft-raised complaints about the Eldar is that Fleet of Foot's accuracy-ruining effect doesn't work whatsoever due to Dark Crusade innately having a fire-on-the-move penalty. So what if we change things so that Fleet of Foot makes the unit take 150% damage from incoming attacks? Or should I reimplement vanilla DOW's fire-on-the-move accuracies instead?

Also also, I was going though Dark Crusade's stringtable a few days ago and found out that there are actually race-specific, condition-specific strings for every time you obtain wargear. I don't think I've ever seen these in-game before.

Avatar: Maybe. At the very least, it would make sure that any super powered buffs don't last for too long.

You may or may not need to give him some more health, since I'm not too sure how effective he is as a combat unit. And with the "Oh crap" debuff you proposed earlier, the countdown would make it inevitable. Hence, depending on the debuff's severity, it might make the Avatar disadvantageous.

Fleetfoot: My concern with that is that fleet foot is meant to escape damage. If you did that, you might need to improve its speed. But I never played Eldar much, so you might be the better judge than me.

Maybe I should boost the Avatar's HP regen speed while in combat? In the unmodded game, the Avatar regens 2 HP/sec in combat and does not regen outside combat at all (which severely decreases its usefulness on Hyperion Peaks).

I'm almost finished with modding Chaos. Right now I'm trying to find a way to make it so that when Chaos Energies is researched, all Chaos Predator weapons are upgraded with their Winter Assault versions with the option to upgrade further to lascannons. Problem is, that can't quite be done due to how the hardpoint upgrade system works: either I do both manually from the taskbar, or I do both with research. I tried to get around it by disallowing manual upgrades (thus hiding the WA weapons' upgrade buttons), using research to upgrade to the WA weapons then having the same research option enable weapon upgrades for Predators (thus causing the lascannons' upgrade buttons to show up), but for some reason this crashes the game the instant a Chaos Predator is spawned.

Another issue I'm having right now is that for some reason, Havoc Marines are missing the reinforce and weapon upgrade icons despite both being enabled for them. Weird.

I'll buy it on launch, unless the pull the whole "made a core faction pre-order DLC" bullshit they did in Total War Warhammer.

I'll accept core factions (Chaos, Guard mostly) as expansion factions (Winter Assault and Chaos Rising were fine) but they should ship with the main game if they are in it.

that was SEGA's decision, not CA's, it shows with CA doing all they can to give you Chaos (free with pre-order, free if you buy it in the first week)

In fairness, he probably thought he was telling the truth. I'm sure the official word is that humans folded into the Tau Empire "see the error of their ways" and give up their Emperor worship. Hell, according to the Cain novels, some of them genuinely do convert, rather than get brainwashed and whatnot.

no, humans who do surrender to the Tau are allowed to follow their faith in the God Emperor (sans DEATH TO THE XENOS bits), and the Inquisition do way worse things to its people for less than the Tau ever would, and there is evidence that a lot of the atrocities carried out by the Tau are Imperial Propaganda, the Tau really are the most tolerant and nicest people in the galaxy, its just a lot of people willing abandon Imperial culture, and occasionally their faith, when the join the Tau, because their shit is sooooo much nicer
