Caught up to the manga. It does look like the Revolutionaries merely retreated (perhaps they weren't even beaten by the Blackbeards, so much as they knew the Marines were hot on their trail too and just decided to skip town).
I am instantly in love with Carrot. Hope we see more of her.
My personal theory is that Dragon and Sabo were away at the time, gathered at a secret meeting place with the other Revolutionary commanders. The strongest people in Baltigo at the time would be on par with Hack, so they got steamrolled by Blackbeard and friends.
The revs lost some bulk manpower and probably resources as well (the Blackbeards definitely got ahold of those weapons they took from Dressrosa and the winesteel that was mentioned shortly after), but the revolutionary top brass is intact and pissed.
This week's anime ep was really cool, aside from a painful animation error where Kyros is clearly walking with two legs. The animation used some weird angles and came off as more lively. The exposition chapters seem to make better anime episodes, because the expo chapters come off as rushed so the anime gets to breathe, while the well-paced action chapters become molasses-paced anime eps.
Kaido premiered this week!
Heh, so anyone know how can Kaido become a playable character in the games?
"I am Alpharius. This is a lie."Well Koala's a playable character in Burning Blood, so sure, why not.
Let's see if you can get past my Beelzemon. Mephiles, WARP SHINKA!Watching Kaido's appearance in this episode and the narration of how much he survived gave me a thought I didn't get the first time around in the manga:
Is it possible that, on top of his inherent toughness, Kaido also has ungodly luck? Essentially on the off chance there's something he wouldn't survive on his own, some Contrived Coincidence kicks in to save his life. Like he tries to drown himself in the ocean only to pick a spot where a there's a Knock-Up Stream or something that shoots him right back onto land.

That sounds pretty cool, actually.
Heyooo.
So I am not very far in One Piece yet. My brother and I watch it whenever he's home, and we're pretty far but not even in Impel Down yet. DON'T WORRY, I haven't read this thread or the trope page.
I'm just here because, well ... we just saw Brook's death scene. And I needed people who understand the pain of having your heart shatter while smiling and crying.
... God, Brook's death is how I wanna go. With a song in my heart and my only thoughts being of the friends I care for.
I'm in your fanfiction, correcting your spelling.Chapter's out.
And it's on break next week.
Yoo,that Weatheria swag.
The Alice in Wonderland feel is strong. And creepy.Especially that ship at the end.
Secret SignatureSanji still wants out of the marriage even after learning Pudding's hot...
...good on you, Sanji.
Very interesting that the World Government and the Marines run a propaganda piece involving the Germa 66 as villains. Consequently, it makes Vito a more fascinating character for his near-fanboy regards for Sanji's family.
Desperate times, desperate measures... Good lord.
Sea slugs!
That's just Zoro with curly eyebrows. No wonder Sanji never gets along with him.
"When I was alive, I was a tender soul. Now, I am tenderloin." -Nanako (Senryuu Shoujo)Now here's a question for everyone: Did the Germa 66 exist prior to the comic strip, or were they inspired by the comic strip?

Has anyone heard anything about Oda's grandmother passing away?
There were mention of it in the author's comments of jump a couple weeks ago.
I'm surprised Oda's grandmother was still alive, until recently.
She lived long enough to see her great-grandkids; that's something to be proud of IMO.
It's not really surprising. He's only 41.
His grandmother must've been in her late 70s, at minimum. She lived a good long life.
Now that we're getting into the true big leagues, any ideas on what might have happened between Shanks and Kaido?
Kaido was trying to drown himself, and while surfacing, defeated, he tore a hole in the hull of Shanks' old ship.
It just seemed like Kaido wanted to snipe at WB and the marines while their forces were mutually weakened, while Shanks wanted to minimize the devastation of the battle. I doubt it was anything personal.
Obviously, but we have no idea what happened. Nobody on Shanks' side looked hurt and I can't image that would be the case if they actually fought so...
I image it's going to be important later on.
That's just throwing it in the opposite direction that you intended.
If that happens, just say it went exactly as planned.
One Strip! One Strip!
