(Here go again prepare for false media induced panic)

*Ignores the media as hard as he can.*

The current mayor of Houston is a bit on the crazy side when it comes to her transportation policies.

The privately funded system, dubbed evGo, being developed by NRG Energy will provide home-charging equipment and public charging stations to subscribers throughout Harris County, Texas. Subscribers will pay as little as $49 for unlimited access and the ability to “fill up” in as little as 30 minutes.

Thank god. The city won't be out of a shit ton of money as a result.

I would have posted another CNN Article about but it was so full of historical errors and very broad generalizations about a historical event, it was not worth posting and then posting the pile of corrections to the history.

What the hell is up with being hit by a single .22LR round and dying? The weakest bullet in existence and the boy lets himself get killed by it? Pussy. I could understand if he was hit in the head, but not the chest. .22LR doesn't have enough power to break human ribs.

Just because its .22LR does not mean it will not kill you. You know something about it caroming off the bones of your body like a pinball. Its a failure to respect the fact that .22 can kill you just as dead as any other caliber. Hell you could get killed by the air rifle.

It's from CNN, are we sure it's not a .223?

I ask because I'm unclear if a reporter is going to know the difference between a .22LR and a .223NATO and just assume "well, they're both ~.22, I'll just round it off".

I can't find anything on it, still really fucking stupid.

Is it really that easy to mistake an air gun for the real thing?

And hell, if your intention was to wake the guy up with the noise, why would you still aim straight at him?

Depending on how it's designed, it's very easy to confuse an air rifle with a real one. However the guy's a fucking idiot, he pointed a weapon of some kind at a person he didn't intend to kill, he didn't check to see if the chamber was loaded, he left the rifle fucking loaded, he pointed the rifle at the guy when the best way to do the noise is to point it parallel...

The guy was just a fuckwit.

Apparently, the US and S. Korea are already talking about the economic implications of a united Korea.

A little cocky, hmm?

All in all, Teu, since you are a true military expert, do you think it seems likely that the issue in Korea is going to devolve into war?

I would say we are very close to it. I am not an expert mind you but if the North keeps Pushing there is a good chance it could blow into a hot conflict and then full out war. The south has declared action if the North takes any more aggressive actions and with us hanging out in the area with air carrier it could get ugly. IF the north fires on the exercise which seems to be their intent or attack the carrier a possibility with the placement of the silkworm missiles on the coast.

If any attacks are made on the exercise there will probably be a forceful retaliation followed by escalation. China could at any time step on the North and keep them from getting stupid but it looks like the Chinese might just seal their border tell us to keep back from it and cut the North loose.

On the Wikileaks: This idiot claims he hacked it.

The missile launches might be launched at the fleet on a hair trigger fuse. I wonder if they are going to take even remote proximity to DPRK borders as a "provocation".

On the other hand, the North Korea might use it as an opportunity attack. If the fleet is hit by missiles, that would give the DPRK a window to assault Seoul. Hypothetically. If the North can shell two villages with some accuracy it might be able to hit the fleet with some crude accuracy.

Are their missiles a serious threat?

The North Korea's missiles are a good deal better than those used by Hezbollah against Israel. Still mostly obsolete 50s crap, but still.

And I think the media forget about North Korea's chemical weapons stockpile.

It would depend which version of the Silk Worm Missiles they have. If they have anything other the Hai Ying (HY-3)I wold not be too worried. Our defenses are adequate for any of the other missiles. The HY-3 Is a threat as it reaches over Mach 2. The others barely reach mach 1 at best. Adequate close in defense systems we have would likely knock out the missiles. Also the second they launch a retaliation strike will make short work of the sites.

I am more worried that North Korea apparently has an IRBM capable of striking Europe if they so decided to. They are even mounted on mobile launch units.
