Oh, and trying to circumvent a ban will result in an even harsher ban.
YKTTW Salvage ListMoved to "Pinned" because this one shouldn't be lost in the depths of page 7.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.If I may add something:
On the other hand I have witnessed * at least one exchange that went like:
Out of curiosity is someone capable of being banned from posting on the forums? Just out of curiosity, as in the case of die-hard trolls, we don't necessarily want to revoke their wiki rights.
WHO WANTS STAKE? *CACKLE*CACKLE*I'm not sure on the details, but yes, there's a forum ban distinct from the edit ban.
"Wait, it's IV. Of course they are. They'd make IV for Dreamcast." - Enlong, on yet another FFIV remakeIn fact, there's one user that I'm pretty sure is forum-banned but not edit-banned.
the future we had hoped forYes, forum bans are completely separate from wiki-bans, unless the wiki-ban is a full IP-block (that means that that IP is not even allowed to access the site at all — anyone trying to get here from that address will get a 403:Denied error). However, the admins and the mods do everything they can to stay on the same page, so if someone is forum-banned for arrant and repeated pain-in-the-assness, the admins will often look at their wiki history as well, and may apply a wiki-ban as well. That's what happened to Devil May Cry; he was forum-banned, and when Fast Eddie checked his wiki-editing history, he found that most of his edit reasons were also insults and attacks an edit-banned him.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.I'm terribly sorry if this counts as "circumventing a ban", as discussed above, but my IP address seems to have gotten a 403 Forbidden ban on the entire tvtropes site, and I have no idea why. Can anyone please explain/help this situation? As far as I can recall, I have made no page edits during the past month or so, and my forum interactions have been minimum roleplaying at the "(Relatively) Free Form Film Noir RP" thread. If I have done an offense which therefore renders me deserving of the 403 ban, however, I simply ask someone to please tell me what it was, and then I shall retire with a relatively peacer mind.
Nulla è reale, tutto è lecito. What's your IP? Most likely you got caught by a block ban (what we have to do when someone simply moved from computer to computer within an IP range, like a library or a school computer lab. That would appear to be the case, here, since your IP changes from day to day.

...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.It does? Now, that's confusing. I've always stayed on this same computer all the time, especially since I got that same 403 Forbidden thing on my mobile phone. It is true, however, that I have just recently changed my modem. Might that be the matter?
My old IP address (before the change of modem, if it does affect the IP address) was 124.195.65.19

Nulla è reale, tutto è lecito. There is someone who keeps defacing one article, it has been taken to discussion and we clean up the article, but this person keeps adding his Fan Wank, how can I deal with someone like that?
And there is always someone who will take it upon himself. Always. Always. Always. I have become evil, but once I, too, was good...Post it in Ask The Tropers, and include which page is being warred on and the name or IP of the person who is doing the warring.
...if you don’t love you’re dead, and if you do, they’ll kill you for it.thanks
And there is always someone who will take it upon himself. Always. Always. Always. I have become evil, but once I, too, was good...Can I get banned for offering links for piracy?
De gustibus non est disputandum.Apologies for posting off-topic, but Superior, the juxtaposition between your post and user title is deliciously funny.
Now I'm a believer^ Than add to that, that the character in my avatar is (at least partially) The Pirate King.

Who watches the watchmen? Is making a new account to circumvent a ban also a bannable offense?
And, erm, is there a venue for reporting if you suspect this has happened? That is, if there's an account that hasn't itself done anything objectionable, but that you're pretty sure belongs to someone who got banned before?
^Yes. Pm a mod a with your suspicions but they won't just ban someone without due process.

See that triangle with the '!' in it right above this post? That sends a message to the mods. PM-ing a specific moderator doesn't necessarily get faster action. All the mods see the stuff from that button (we call it the Holler button), meaning you are more likely to catch a mod that is on line.
Goal: Clear, Concise and WittyI'm actually interested in this myself. On the Irwin Rommel page, or some such thing it was noted that Irwin Rommel was a noted tank commander, which he was, but when I made an edit to specify he used Infantry tactics and applied them to armored warfare, it was deleted without cause. Probably a did not do the research moment for the deleter.
When I redid my edit with the terse "Erwin Rommel was a Infantry commander who took a liking to tanks" I was somewhat concerned.
I don't think you really have much to be concerned about.
I spread my wings and I learn how to fly....
The one on my IP was a 403 ban. 0.o
