No, he was surprised. He also didn't believe it. It took him till the very least season while seeing two Yugi's to barely believe it.
In the manga the Ancient Egyptians didn't have the Duel Disks (Or at least they didn't in the RPG version of Ancient Egypt XD;), so maybe it was meant to give an explanation for Kaiba making the discs in the anime version.
The Protomen enhanced my life. What, is "He's rich and intelligent" not enough?

Oh God! Natural light! No, that's enough. But it doesn't explain why duel discs existed before his. Which means that him being inspired by them has more logic to it. Though the idea that his subconscious gave him the idea due to being the reincarnation of Priest Seto is possible too. There's just nothing implying either explanations are more valid than the other. We just know at least he has seen ancient stone tablets, so him seeing something like that is barely more plausible than the other at best.
I mean, "Subcounciously inspired by past life" is why Seto's obsessed with the Blue Eyes too. So, not like it lacks precedents.
Though it's kinda funny when they finally get to the RPG of the Past how little Seto winds up doing. For all the build up the show does about Seto being a reincarnation and the Pharaoh's friend/rival; very little comes of this. Past Seto saves a chick, she dies before they do much of anything, she becomes the Blue Eyes... and nothing really happens. And Modern Seto doesn't really do anything in the RPG either.
Well, he doesn't want to. Even in the past, he still doesn't believe it's real. It's just who he is. It's pretty much Arbitrary skepticism through and through. Basically a defining trait of him. Keep in mind his whole thing is electronics, so it seems like a case of "needs data to confirm" instead. Yugi's the opposite with being more believing in magical means. I don't know if it's just a dub thing, but they're foils to each other, polar opposites.
Not saying it makes no sense from a watsonian. I'm just saying from a Doylist point of view, and a narrative point of view, Seto Kaiba ultimately does little in the show's plot. For being arguably the deuteragonist, he's surprisingly unimportant. Doubly so in the show's penultimate ark. Even the whole reincarnation bit is "Turns out you're the reincarnation of some dude who did fuck all." Like, even if he had been a believer, there's so little there.
Anime-Kaiba got a lot more scenes of saving Yugi and the gang, especially in the final arc where he saved them all from Zorc's attack with some shielding spell card.
Kaiba also believed in magic in Duelist Kingdom, where he made contingencies for Pegasus's magic and warned Yugi about it specifically.
You think the Abridged Series will do the KC Grand Prix arc? it's short and inconsequential enough that i could almost see the whole thing being compressed into 1 or 2 episodes.

The Protomen enhanced my life. Can't Dartz see the future?
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!really though the anime interpretation of the Memory World arc is complete BS
and the ancient egyptian dueldisks is just an example of that

Why is everyone talking about Kaiba touching Joey? He specifically asked you to stop!
Qui odoratus est qui fecit. At least the diadhanks looked cool XD Since the RPG aspect was downplayed compared to the manga (though at a certain point in both versions it seems to go poof) they also served as handy life meters.

The Protomen enhanced my life.I feel like that scene with the stampede of rats was a missed opportunity to reference this meme◊.
Card Game Mercenaries!
I'm so excited for his reaction to the next episode.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.Next episode is a Bastion episode. He'll love...hate...lovehate it.
You fell victim to one of the classic blunders!Bastion vs. Chazz! He's going to have reactions.
Improving as an author, one video at a time. That episode was everything I wanted from him and then some.
Improving as an author, one video at a time.MONKEYS
also it seems the next episode of YGOA will be the longest ever
pretty expected
Ooh, maybe it will be the finale to the DOMA filler.
Nah, he said he's keeping the Leviathan battle its own separate video. Its just that the duel with Dartz is six episodes so there's a lot of stuff to cover.
This is really cool. On the latest episode of Hunter X Hunter's dub, Little Kuriboh played a role as a minor villain.
Something Re-incarnation of Priest Seto. Something subconsciously tapping in knowledge of his past life to build duel disks Something.
