Don't forget to post pictures!

Off the top of my head, I'd love to be able to draw like Monkey Punch, who did Lupin III.

Ce ne pas un post.

Klimt has such a bizarre style. Kinda cool, though.

I like DalĂ (that's about the Spanish Civil War), Bosch (fuckhuge image, the Last Judgment), Giger, Nihei...

Does Michael Turner count as a 'real' artist?

An useless name, a forsaken connection.

If we can include realism, I'm a fan of Norman Rockwell. His work is amazing.

I mean Witchblade, although I haven't seen his work on that. I've seen his drawings on Superman/Batman and Fathom, and they look so alive, so organic.

An useless name, a forsaken connection.

Seconding Dali and Bosch. Also, Max Ernst.

Less weirdly, John William Waterhouse, although I admit that's partly due to his propensity for redheaded ladies.

no one will notice that I changed this

Copypasting from a post in another thread:

William-Adolphe Bouguereau's Young Shepherdess Standing. Her Pre-Raphaelite spunkiness inspired a character of mine xD.

Also from Bouguereau: Bacchante. I have yet to decide whether the character inspired by this will actually figure into the novel outside of flashbacks and mentions, but yeah.

I'm very fond of Ralph Steadman's work:

Somebody involved with Hunter S Thompson? (Wikipedia says yes. What an iconic image that last one is, sorta)

What's wrong with some abstraction? I mean, that's hardly up to Frankenthaler levels.

I mostly like realistic scenes

or epic scenes but abstraction always seemed pretensious to me

I'm partial to the Dutch Golden Age, Post-impressionism and the High Renaissance. Favourite artists are Vincent van Gogh, Rembrandt and Johannes Vermeer. Vermeer's realism is amazing, and Rembrandt's work with light and shadow...pure love.

I'm kind of a Darwyn Cooke whore. There's just something beautifully retro about his style and coloring.
