Devil May Cry- the reboot.

So I watched some videos of the game. I've never criticized aspects of the game I haven't experienced firsthand, so when people said Kat's exposition about her traumatic childhood was boring and tacked on and yawn inducing I just sorta nodded my head. Couldn't agree or disagree since I hadn't seen it.

In it she talks about being sexually assaulted by her stepfather.

No buildup. No payoff. Demonic rape is just randomly tacked onto the game in one backstory infodump.

This game is disgusting.

Remember, anything bad that happened to anyone in this game is because of The Demons.

Am I the only one who finds it funny how Metal Gear Rising more or less explores very similar themes, and unsurprisingly does it a lot more convincingly?

Platinum wasn't on writing duties on this one.

Well, to be honest, the part I find funny is more the similarity there. Of course, MGR has the advantage that it doesn't blame the problem on a supernatural entity.

But it does.

I'm not sure if you're just joking, but explaining why the boss is Nigh-Invulnerable =/= everything bad in the world is because Demons.

Apparently some presentation NT gave at GDC.

The one thing I took away from them is "Dante Is Not Fun".

I believe this is more stuff from NT's panel at GDC.

Ninja'd I see.

I just see it as more evidence that NT is extremely ignorant and out of touch with the fans of the series.

And with what's "cool" in general. It's kinda hard to find a bunch of dour and pouty looking teenagers "cool", even next to the Batman Forever costumes.

Just did a quick search. Apparently, NT called Real!Dante a "Gay Cowboy".

Strikes me as homophobic.

Also, for that matter, isn't using a character from Chronicle as an example of "cool" kinda a severe case of Misaimed Fandom?

I'm not one to use the term "butthurt" as a common piece of my vocabulary, but damn, they're really being stupid about this.

For the love of god, you do not insult the majority of the audience you're supposed to be selling the game to. And yet, here we are, NT having insulted the fans in interviews, behind the scenes, and now when they should be making appeals and apologies, they're doubling down on being insulting about it.

Wow, there's the fucking definition of irony. Considering NT are the last people who have any idea what Dante is and isn't.

Okay, I'm backing up here again. I know they've been insulting towards the fans before, but this is just too much for me to believe.

To be honest, I care more about them calling Dante gay because two problems with that

• They're basically saying gay = bad which equals homophobic
• They're supposed to be grown up. Mature people don't use gay as an insult

I am not a social justice blogger, but geez.

Its kind of sad really.
