Alright all set up! Just gotta wait a few hours for the download now.

Is there anything I should know about P 4 G that differs from the general advice in P5?

It's a lot easier, so if you want to compensate for that you may want to play on one difficulty level higher than normal. Make sure you get Adachi's link to 6 before November and Marie's to 10 before the end of December, though she's available pretty much every day that month. The fortune box can be used to raise bond points at night when it isn't raining.

You have less days available in the main game window but also about five weeks in January/February.

Hollow Forest was a mistake.

Marie is locked out if you don't get her to 10 after she gets her memories back right?

You can't complete her link if you don't clear her before Magatsu Inaba, which locks you out of a month of gameplay and a poorly designed dungeon.

Another thing would be party member and family slinks need to be 10 before November, most stat gates are with these as well. So Adachi, party members, family, and Marie take priority in that order if they are available.

Rainy days are either for your Dungeon clear day, stat gains at Aiya’s ( 5k yen each) or doing the Hermit. The Diligence stat is largely useless, it’s only really used for extra fishing casts, don’t focus on it. Any diligence upgrade at Aiya’s early on is kinda bad if min maxing but only reset worthy if it drives you nuts like it does me.

I just realized:

Is nicknaming Futaba "Oracle" supposed to be a Batman reference?

It's one thing to make a spectacle. It's another to make a difference.

@Naoto

thought Naoto was a guy. It's not unusual to have ladies voice androgynous men in anime. Plus knowing Naoto is a woman kinda fucks up Kanji's arc/dungeon.

But whatever.

Get Marie's S Link to 10 as soon as possible because she's the best and while her dungeon is poorly designed, it has the best dungeon theme in the history of Persona as far as I'm concerned. Of course, I have some bias... It's kinda like how Lisa's dungeon in IS is another top choice for best Persona dungeon theme. I love both Marie and Lisa so much.

But it's still so good.

Thanks for the advice guys :D

I ended up getting to the point of Chie's Persona.

Tomorrow is totally free for me. So I should be able to get some good progress in tomorrow.

[up][up][up] I guess, it’s a western only name though. In Japan her code name is ‘Navi’, oddly you can still that nickname in some of the menus.

[up]Oh, so that's what that means. I thought it just meant "navigator" as opposed to "party".

I assumed it was relating to Oracle of Delphi.

Futaba is a gamer and internet nerd. Her jacket says "AFK" on the back, her night wear says "JLMK!" "just let me know", she is named after 2chan, and she treats going to a best buy knockoff as an adventure in an open world RPG. So Navi really makes sense.

Not once does she say she like superheroes in both the original and dub.

Its a really stupid nonsensical change, especially for Atlus who doesn't typically change things like that.

Should be noted that Navi from The Legend of Zelda gets her name from the Japanese word "nabiru," which means "to navigate." Wouldn't surprise me if Futaba's Japanese codename was also based on the word "nabiru," though until Word of God clarifies, we're really just playing guessing games on what went through the developers' heads.

As for the "Oracle" codename, I was under the impression that they chose that name because oracles were considered to be people who gave wise and insightful counsel. I mean, considering that Persona 5 is a Megami Tensei game and we all know how much Megami Tensei loves mythology, I was pretty sure the "Oracle" codename was meant to reference mythological oracles as opposed to Barbara Gordon.

Speaking of, are there any other references to American superheroes in the Persona series? I'm a relative newcomer to the franchise, so I'm not completely familiar with it.

The only one I can think of off the top of my head is reoccuring demon "Hell Biker", who is basically Ghost Rider. There are plenty more western-in-general references (Norse mythology and Christianity references in particular) but nothing specifically American that I recall.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.

Most are fictional American literature like Audrey in SMT 2 is from The Little Shop Of Horrors or jokes like the 'Patriot' demon in SMTIV.

Lets see... Black Widow, Christine the Car, The Jersey Devil, Betelgeuse, and Bigfoot are also in SMT 2. Carrie is in the original Persona, renamed Karen in the western version. The chainsaw wielding demon named 'Friday' is in the second NES MT game.

The Chupacabra is in SMTIV. Mothman is an American thing. Oh Redrum (murder spelled backwards) in SMT 2 is based on The Shining.

Mothman is American? This guy? ....huh, so he is. Weird. I'd never heard of him before, assumed he was some mythology thing rather than a cryptid.

I've always kind of liked Mothman, though, based just on his character design. He's a cute little doofus.

Really from Jupiter, but not an alien.

Mothman's pretty great. He was also pretty useful for me in... I think P3.

I used Mothman on my first attempt at Shadow Kanji.

Turns out that it's a really bad idea to use a Repel Elec Persona on Shadow Kanji, he absorbs electric.

If everyone were normal, the world would be a dull place. Like reality television.
Arha Since: Jan, 2010

That's why Repel really isn't as good as it sounds. You want Absorb. Though I think P5 changed it so that if you reflect an element that the enemy absorbs then it just gets nulled rather than healing them.

What happens if both your current Persona and a boss repel the same element?
