Speculation on Reddit is that it's like Social Links but you can get benefits from them even after maxing them out, which was a common criticism of SLs. "We've forged a bond that can never be broken! Now I don't need to pay attention to you anymore; bye!"

At most, I think he might end up in a quasi-antagonistic role by discovering the team's criminal behavior and reporting it for, from his perspective, their own good.

Am I the only one who doesn't really like the mouth-flapping portraits during dialogue? The animation itself (blinking eyes, moving expressions, etc) I don't mind, but the random generic mouthflaps are sort of bleh.

The Arenas and Dancing All Night use visual novel-style scenes for the story, though, whereas P5 uses them to fancy up the text boxes while scenes play out with in-game models.

Huh. I haven't played DAN, but I guess I just didn't notice them in Arena. Or else, like said, they weren't as noticeable in the sprite-only VN bits as compared to being part of the text boxes for the actual 3D bits.

Not sure about the "remains important even after maxing link" thing, it make a max-cooperation links run impossible.

Knowing Atlus USA, they might very well even just be called Social Links by the time the game gets here.

I think the "remains important even after maxing link" just means that there are bonuses for doing their links and such. For example, we know that Iwai and Tae are shop owners, so doings their links might unlock better stuff.
