Mizerous: From what I understood according to what someon on Tumblr said in Japan phantom thieves are seen as part of kid's entertainment and Persona 5 is trying to speak about "serious" topics unlike Lupin which just focused on being fun hence the skepticism.

I think? Something like that. Not sure on the details.

I kind of see what they mean it's pretty contrasting to have serious issues be solved by wearing a leather outfit with mask and beating up a giant monster with super powers.

Phantom thieves are ridiculous. You think they're not ridiculous? They're burglars who put showiness above practicality and acclaim above risk/reward. I can't imagine anyone taking them at all seriously. Even for the game's purposes, they're being used as a symbol or a metaphor rather than taking their criminality seriously. These are not crimes you have to worry about kids imitating, because they're absurd.

They're the equivalent of costumed superheroes. You can tell a compelling story with them, or even use them to make a serious point about our society, but the very idea is fundamentally absurd and only works in fiction.

I'm kind of disappointed that Futaba is the Mission Control. It'd be funnier to me if someone who seemed very aggressive had a mission control-oriented Persona.

Everyone hypes her, but I really like the biker chick more. I really like her design unlike Futaba's (that's hacker girl's name) Chihiro/Chidori cross. Mind, I do like her as a character from what I have seen of her (and her Persona is pure awesome), I just dislike her design.

Halberd lady will be my BFF.

Oh my god, this game is so stylish, what the fuck.

They are making every other game UI designer in the world look bad.

To be fair, all the little animations on menus and whatnot could get incredibly annoying over a long game once you've seen them all a thousand times before.

Thinking about it bit more, Necronomicon being an UFO would tie to the Sufficiently Advanced Aliens angle the gods of Cthulhu Mythos would really are. Or something like that. Still an odd design choice.

I do like the interior of Necronomicon, being an empty void with techno runes and such. Makes me think of Demonbane.

Also, the battles to seem to have a mechanism where you can swap turns with your party members/sacrifice turn to power them up.

They probably will have an option to hit the x button to progress through them quickly like FFXIII's animated menus had or even an option to turn them off. But most of the menus look to be just an evolution of P 3 P's menu system and that wasn't annoying.

Truthfully, I thought Student council motorbike girl looked a bit like the Female MC from Persona portable.

It had been so long since there were any news about P5 that my hype just kinda dwindled over time.

But now I'm IN.

AND THERE ARE NO BREAKS ON THIS HYPE TRAIN.

So, who's importing.

I tried importing once.

Here's my experience: If you're going to import a game, make sure it's a simple game like Mario, and not something text heavy, like an RPG. You'll lose all interest in the game when dialogue is the major pull of the game, and you can't understand any of it.

If you can read Japanese, then by all means, pay me no mind. But I never finished Valkyria Chronicles 3 because it was such a drag to have no idea what the heck I'm supposed to be doing, and if this game has even half the text of the other games, you're going to spend a lot of time doing virtually nothing.
