Pffft. At least there is only one story and actually has a fight in the end. Continuum Shift Extend has two stories with absolutely no fights in it.
Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru! It's a thing that Labrys's generation of Anti-Shadow weapons can't use guns yet. It's the whole reason she has an axe.
Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.I just don't get that. Story's cool and all... but I bought a fighting game, not a visual novel.
dont you already have arcade mode though?
Obviously, every other route is just like that, so you never get to have any fights ever.
Welcome to Persona!
nyo ho hoDon't you mean P 3 P? (And I like it)
Persona 3 Portable LiveblogThere's a good argument for Persona 3 and 4 being dating sims with RPG elements tacked on.
The others aren't much better - there's significantly more talking than fighting (I think it takes about twenty minutes for Narukami's first fight to happen). I've just never seen a fighting game with that much emphasis on story before - from what I've seen, even Arcade Mode has a fair amount of dialogue and its own plot, easily more than most other fighters actual story modes.
Meh, too many non-romantic social links to count as a dating sim.

Persona 3 Portable LiveblogStory-heavy RPGs like Persona don't mesh well with fighting games, especially if it's a sequel. Unless they decided to say "fuck it, the story will be whatevernonsense", or something.
"If you aren't him, then you apparently got your brain from the same discount retailer, so..." - FighteerNarukami's story mode is extremely bad. It's like twice the length of everyone else's, because Margaret constantly takes Yu aside and explains what just happened to him.
So yeah, don't do his story mode as your one P4 story. Do like, Chie's or something.
But yeah, they are all kinda slow to start.
Also, I take it you have never played Blaz Blue?

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.melty blood had a pretty indepth story mode too, with all the usual nasu quirks >_> but at least it was just one story with many different branches instead of extremely long and tedious story modes for each and every character, even the ones that have no story relevence whatsoever.
Teddie or Naoto for P4 story mode, really. Though the latter is kind of lumped in with the P3 cast. And Teddie is kinda obnoxious in his own right.

Why is Persona 4 Arena Ultimax dividing up the episodes like P3 and P4? Atlus should follow the example of Mortal Kombat 9 with Story mode. That way tell which and which stories aren't canon.
"I don't give a rat's ass about going to hell. I guess it's because I feel like I'm already there." -MugenThe P3 and the P4 characters are approaching the incident from completely different perspectives. The Investigation Team are once again just kinda caught in the middle when shit goes down, while Labrys and the P3 guys are explicitly sent in to save Mitsuru, Aigis, etc. Why would we see that as one continuous story mode? Unlike in Arena, where we have no way of knowing which story aside from Labrys's is canon, I think Ultimax is going to have more of a "these two stories fit together to show the full picture".
Also, individual character stories work in games where the plot is wide enough to give everyone something to do that doesn't clash with what others are doing. Blaz Blue Continuum Shift's story mode is rather well done in this regard.

Don't PM me. We don't like being PMed.* Arc System Works. Seriously, they are the guys who are really making the game and they are the ones who decide how the stories go.
Continue the bloodline, Fujimaru! We still don't know what is and isn't canon using that method, unless we're operating under the assumption that every story mode is. which is why, while not the best story ever told, I agree that MK 9's aproach is probably the best among fighting games right now.
I like how well ASW handles licensed properties, they're practically guaranteed to deliver results as good as the franchise owners themselves. I remember that Fist Of The North Star fighting game they made, it was crammed absolutely full of easter eggs that would only make sense to fans of the manga.
Marie's now playable?
With Kaguya as a Persona?
Yahoo!
as long as you cough up 10 bucks.
nyo ho ho... She's day-one-DLC just like Adachi?
no, she's paid dlc, unlike adachi.
I still can't believe Labrys's story mode is a movie long visual novel with one fight at the end.
They could of made those robots she fought palette swapped voiceless Aigis's or something.
