You can get a ??? in any regular battle. Any.

Did you mean finishing VT could get you one? I'm pretty sure it's scripted to give you any Ultimate card, regardless of whether you have one or not.

Not finishing, just in a regular VT battle. Because all this time, and I haven't gotten one.

I think I have. It's pure RNG, so just keep going. I think I got a regular Ultimate during VT battles too before, so... It's faster to fight 1 VS 2 battles at 10 Stock matches, though. Like around the start of Knuckles' Story.

I have the 1 round VT, infinite health, infinite ichikoro, and turbo mode cheats enabled. Nothing could be faster than what I'm doing. the RNG just hates me.

In the first 5 rounds of VT, you don't get any cards after a regular battle. At the end of the entire set of VT Matches(5, 10, 15, 20), you get specifically one Ultimate card.

You can't get anything but an Ultimate card with your settings. You can get any card during a regular match, to clarify. There's some scripted battles that give you a specific card due to its settings.(for instance, the first Emerl VS Sonic battles train you to learn the Upper and Heavy attacks, there's also a match in Rouge's story where you can't get hit... which gives you no cards)

Basically, you're doing it wrong.

Clearly I'm doing it right since I've been doing it for months. If you activate the one-round Virtual Training, what basically happens is that round 1 is treated as round 20. Each character has one life, and when you win, you get the standard cards and the guaranteed Ultimate card, and then the mode ends.

Then you've just been unlucky. ??? cards are extremely rare as is. And I have never been able to use that code, but eh(doesn't have a version for the Gameshark SP). Regardless, the first 5 regular matches in VT can't get you cards.

But this no longer makes it a regular match. So, I was hoping someone might know if that blocks ??? cards from appearing. Doing the math, I have done at least 300 rounds of VT, since I was able to get each round down to like 30 seconds. Not at single ??? has appeared in this mode, unless I'm forgetting where the one ??? I have came from.

It's theoretically possible that the codes you use actually messes with the RNG and bars it from appearing. But as I said, I don't know if ??? can appear in the VT regular matches. I'll try to ask around on Game FA Qs and Neoseeker to see if anybody experienced it.

I'd suggest just playing regular matches. Abuse those combo cards. Even the game says "use them wisely". I do find it funny they're worthless for the final two fights in the game. tongue

I don't think there's a "Press Select to KO Someone" code among your options, right? It speeds up the process, and actually allows you to go through all of VT, getting up to 15 sets of cards.

Related, and maybe it's just me, but I wish that when getting a Rare, if it's a Color(only), you can still get 2 commons. The other ones are much more notable as Rares and add something directly to your fighting skills besides a bad coloring. So outside of blinding someone, they might as well be commons.

Thank you for asking around. I'm not a member on other sites.

Again, there really isn't anything faster than using the cheats I did in VT. You can go from open world, finish a match, and back to the open world, in less than 30 seconds.

Well, you get more bang for your buck with the set up I have. I just hold R with a Chaos Blast to ignore all enemies, and press Select a bunch of times. Wins every time~

Yours is good too, of course. It just doesn't let you get the extra battle cards and all.

I posted the question in Game FA Qs. Neoseeker I had to PM a mod before making a thread. It's also mostly a dead forum, so... I wouldn't get your hopes up. :/ But we'll see. smile

I do get the battle cards though. Every fight, each character has one life, and dies instantly to the Ichikoro combo card. Each fight, I get on Ultimate card, and one card from each of my opponents, unless it's a rare card, then I get on guaranteed Ultimate and one Rare card. Of course, I have 9 copies of all of the ultimates, so that doesn't matter to me.

If you have 9 of every Ultimate card, there's literally no point in playing Virtual Training anyway.

Just go for multi-battles in some of the earlier Stories. Emerl Vs Knuckles Vs Sonic during Knuckles' Story is a perfect one. It's fast with combo cards, and easy to do~

Well, it does give you every possible character to fight with. So collecting 9 of every common is faster that way. It works for the most part, I guess. Chaos Zero is notably rare to fight against, annoyingly so.

Common cards that I have not yet reached the cap for:

  • Sonic:Wave (Ground Shot) - 7
  • Tails: Air Flick (Air Power) - 8
  • Knuckles: Deep Impact (Ground Power) - 8
  • Shadow: Roaming Chaos (Ground Trap) - 5
  • E-102 "Chaos" Gamma:
    • Meltdown (Ground Power) - 9
    • Air Meltdown (Air Power) - 6
  • Chaos:
    • Guard - 8
    • Double Stab (Heavy) - 7
    • Upper - 8
    • Impact (Aim) - 6
    • Shot (Ground Shot) - 6
    • Air C. Shot (Air Shot) - 2
    • Crush (Ground Power) - 6
    • Air C. Crush (Air Power) - 6
    • Splash (Ground Trap) - 5
    • Air C. Splash (Air Trap) - 3

With the exception of Chaos, all of those are special moves. I'd really love to see how this game generates what cards to grant.

I got Shadow's Attack support! 17 cards left to get.

I just glitched the game!

On VT, the highway stage, with the infinite Ichikoro cheat on, I killed Knuckles and Shadow, then hit Gamma with the last hit of Amy's combo card. He glided over to the edge of the stage in the first sprite of his death animation, and became unhittable. All I could do was exit out. My Chu 2 bomb locked on to him, but neither it nor I could damage him.

It was the 4th VT battle of this bus ride. The first and fifth gave me my sixth and seventh copies of Amy Color 1. I still have no copies of Tails Color 1. The RNG is a harsh mistress.

That happens often. I remember that.

The game has some silly glitches.

Also, I got zero answers about my earlier question, sorry.

I've mostly been playing Pokemon Y. I would love if this game got a sequel, and perhaps some better balance. At least in card collecting. The RNG itself should be somewhat rigged so it's more likely to give you a new card. Just like adding a few points to the RNG to put it towards that. It shouldn't be guaranteed, of course.

It's a niche game in the series, never mind it didn't sell all too well(and has less copies than most Sonic games on the Nintendo systems). It's also a dead series. All the other games(except R and Fighters) essentially got sequels or tie-ins to the regular games. Other than Sonic Battle's role in the canon(being after Shadow but before 06) at best, it didn't stand out.

Let's be fair, the story is great, but the gameplay wasn't favorable, and the extreme grinding does not inspire people to want to play it. One of my Sonic fan friends skipped out on this game because it was boring to play, despite even trying 06(and probably playing it more at this rate). He also hated Unleashed(might be because coming from 06's horribly Mach Speed sections, the Day Stages were not a heavy improvement. Forcing you to wait to launch the homing attack is an actual gameplay change and people won't adapt to it easily at first, and you go very fast very often akin to the mach speed sections, just somewhat slower and a bit more controllable. Likewise, many find the actual stages to not be that well-designed. Then the Werehog did not get many fans. Slow platforming(very very slow), a really low attack power(seriously, even Shadow was stronger in his own game with attacks, and he had at least Guns to speed up enemy defeating), and specific button commands is not always favorable overall with a high speed game. You don't want complicated controls. But the kicker was the Tails sections. Press X to Not Die. It's a bit easy to see why the game was very questionable in design. Colors and Generations further fixed up some of these issues, and got rid of the Werehog, made the Day Stages[style] easier to play on, removed most of the complicated controls, and was still fun and playable.)

Keep in mind I didn't find Colors(console) too fun, but it was easier to play than Unleashed. 06 was more favorable to me due to the alternate playstyles.

Anyway, regardless, Battle had kind of broken gameplay, some glitches, very unfair battles, and a very cheap RNG that'll leave you hanging for hours. The lack of fans is kind of justified at this point. It only had a great story(and I've heard some find it bad, so that's still debatable too) as its high point. Well, it looked great and had top-notch music too, yeah. Although the Voices being done by long beeps sometimes made your ears bleed. Oh, god, the females. That's a large turn-off. I even turn off my sound for that. If only you could remove sound effects...

I enjoyed Colors.

It was kind of like Adventure 1's(06's levels were very similar to the level choices in that game. Many theorize it was supposed to be a remake, and it does fit, since there's at least 6 different playable styles, with some variation, and 9 playable characters period. 3 are fully playable, 6 are smaller roles).

I'd try them all. 06 is best in multiplayer(although the cutscenes alone are what makes it so entertaining), Shadow is good in a cheesy way and pretty fun(the cutscenes and gameplay which isn't even close to broken, despite a small amount of glitches), and Unleashed, while not perfect, is a bit easier to play, I'd imagine, since you went with Colors. Rent, try out at a friends', whatever works.

I'm just replaying the Knuckles 1 hit KO part for Rares. I can reset fast if I fail to get one. Mainly, I want all of Knuckles' cards besides the Combo card, which I have to get differently.
