Ya know, Dungeons And Dragons has monsters that are living walls and celings. Would those count?

Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianDo those or something equivalent show up in any of the newer monster manuals? They're alright (like the third best) but I'm not crazy about the art.
I like The Pope's recent image of a floor master in Wind Waker. Seems to demonstrate the trope better than the original picture.
That image is definetley good, but I kinda like the idea of showing an example that isn't the Trope Namer so it distinguishes the trope a bit better. I kinda thought a Wall Master was something like a Mook Bouncer untill I read the description.
I couldn't find newer versions of the monsters I found. There maybe an equivlent 3rd edition, but I can't find my monster manual for that.
Put me in motion, drink the potion, use the lotion, drain the ocean, cause commotion, fake devotion, entertain a notion, be Nova ScotianHere's another stunjelly picture. Obviously, we'd need a version with the errant text blanked out, but my editing skills are weak.
Random thought: Maybe a real life example? There's plenty of animals with very good camouflage that wait for their prey to get close, such as mantises or the trap door spider.
Failing that, Pope's gets across the whole "popup" part pretty well.

Fight. Struggle. Endure. Suffer. LIVE.Bump...Pope's Floor Master, a D&D pic, or something different?
I'm not sure whether it would make a good page image, but it's too cool not to share: The Trapdoor Spider.
This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish. That's certainly as heart-attack-inducing as the Trope Namer...
Courage is not the lack of fear; it's the ability to proceed in spite of fear.If you want a good example, use the trope namer, the real trope namer. Skip to 4:20.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackThe best possible screenshot there would just be half a pixelly hand in a wall, I'm not sure that'd be good enough to demonstrate the trope to people unfamiliar with the game.
This implies, quite correctly, that my mind is dark and damp and full of tiny translucent fish.Fine, use the Wind Waker one. We already have one that clearly shows the hand coming out of the environment.
Modified Ura-nage, Torture RackHere's a screen cap from the original Zelda game at 346 px.
What about this thing? It's basically a wallmaster Expy from Yu-Gi-Oh, but is clearly coming out of a wall! http://twitpic.com/5sc2yd

It's not bad, but the wall is kinda in the background and the emphasis is too much on the creature...is there a different artwork of that creature?
A few good examples. I think a crowner's in order.
First key to interpreting a work: Things mean things.Blank crowner's hooked.
Yowch, everything's in the red right now.
Still an all-red crowner right now.
One more bump...the old stunjelly pic is the only one in the green, but it's only at +1. Should we go ahead and call it with that pic, or just make an Image Links page with the crowner options and call it good with that?
None of them are really any good.
Here's something I found from DA. Better than anything we've got so far, at any rate.
If it weren't watermarked, we could use it.
Fight smart, not fair.Any chance we could ask the artist for a non-watermarked version?

I kinda like the last suggestion.
