Meaning, by traditional narrative convention, Mauricio will not die.
Seems a little early for the narrative to say "Mauricio's gonna die soon." IIRC, this is supposed to be a three-part story, and right now we're only at the end of part one. Martina didn't die until part three of the last story, after all.

He's copying Devyat's quote from just a few panels prior. If he doesn't really know the meaning of "dude", then he's probably just copying it because he figures the word is important in this context.
